April 21, 2026Amazing harpist! 100% recommended!
Heather is incredibly talented, my husband and I recommend her for any event. We hired her on for our wedding that was Enchanted Forest themed. She paired extremely well with the Scottish fiddler we hired, David Klingler, and filled the air with magical music. We had her play Celtic tunes, a few of which she learned, but was familiar already with most since she has such an extensive playlist. We cannot speak higher of Heather and her talent, as well as how easy it was to work with her!

June 1, 2025A truly elegant touch
I was so pleased with the harpist’s performance at our Bridgerton Bridal Tea. She was prompt, professional, and carried herself with grace and poise. Dressed beautifully and with a kind spirit, she set the perfect tone for our event. One of the most special moments was when she played a Disney princess song just for my granddaughter — it was magical. A truly elegant and memorable touch to our day.

What to expect
What you can expect from my performance depends on what kind of event I am performing for. Please find your event below to find out what I provide!
Weddings
My wedding package includes 30 minutes of prelude music as well as the processionals, the recessionals, and any other music requested during the ceremony. You will choose the ceremony songs yourself, and you can either select the prelude music from my setlist or give me a favorite genre or general vibe and leave the selections to me. I will accept up to 3 requests for new songs per event at no extra charge. Wedding packages start at $400.
Wedding rehearsals are not included in the wedding package. If my presence is required at the rehearsal, the extra time required for the rehearsal (including travel time) will be charged at a rate of $75 per hour.
If I am accompanying another musician on the day of the wedding, I will schedule a rehearsal with that musician prior to the start of the prelude at no extra charge. If the other musician wishes to schedule a rehearsal on a different day prior to the wedding day, that musician may come to my studio for the rehearsal at a mutually convenient time. Rehearsals on a different day incur a $75 charge.
Parties and Special Events
I perform between 1 and 4 hours of background music for a variety of events including birthday parties, graduation parties, Christmas parties, retirement parties, and corporate events. You can choose music from my setlist or give me a favorite genre or general vibe and leave the selections to me. I will accept up to 3 requests for new songs per event at no extra charge. Background music for parties starts at $300.
Funerals and Memorial Services
My package for funeral and memorial services includes 30 minutes of prelude music and any special music requested during the service. You will choose the ceremony songs yourself, and you can either select the prelude music from my setlist or give me a favorite genre or general vibe and leave the selections to me. I will do my best to honor special requests, but depending on the amount of lead time before the event, I may not be able to accept certain requests. Funeral/Memorial Service packages start at $325.
Orchestra Concerts
If you are scheduling a concert, chances are that you have already chosen the music for the event! I ask that the part be provided as early as possible and no less than three weeks before the concert so I have ample time to prepare it to the highest standard for performance. Examples of past orchestral performances include the Nutcracker with the New Carolina Sinfonia, Symphonie Fantastique with the North Carolina Symphony, La Forza del Destino with the Chapel Hill Philharmonic, and the Faure Requiem with various ensembles.
Solo performances
Solo performances serve as the focal point for an event and can be tailored to your preferred genre and length. You can choose from classical, Celtic, sacred, seasonal, or pop works, or you can ask me to mix and match. Examples of past programs include a program of all-Scottish developed for a Scottish heritage event and a classical program including a variety of composers from Bach to Grandjany. Solo performances start at $550.
Logistics
Arrival time
You can expect me to arrive about 30 minutes before I start playing to have time to unpack and set up. I need about 5 square feet for me and my equipment.
Outdoor Events
For outdoor events, sufficient shade must be provided in the intended set-up space. Adequate shelter from the sun can be provided by a pavilion with a solid ceiling, a small tent, or shade from buildings or trees on the property. Inadequate shelters include decorative pavilions with latticed ceilings and patio umbrellas.
Having a rain plan for an outdoor event is essential since the equipment I use can be damaged or destroyed by even a light sprinkling of rain. Adequate shelter from the rain can be provided by a large pavilion or tent with protected sides; however, for the comfort of the guests and musicians alike, moving inside in case of rain is strongly encouraged. If an outdoor event is rained out and no rain plan is enacted, the musician is excused from performing, but the client is still liable for full payment.
About
Heather Hills earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Indiana University, graduating in 2014 with highest distinction. She has been performing for weddings and other events since 2013, having played at numerous venues throughout North Carolina and Virginia, including Rose Hill Plantation, historic All Saints Chapel, The Umstead Hotel and Spa, High Grove Estate, The Washington Duke Inn, and Berry Hill Plantation. Her events have included orchestra concerts with the North Carolina Symphony, Durham Symphony, Chapel Hill Philharmonic, and the New Carolina Sinfonia; solo recitals for various concert series, including the First United Methodist Church in Wilson, NC, the Scottish Heritage Event in Sanford, NC, and the Delaware Valley Music Club of NJ; and multitudinous weddings, parties, and special events.
In addition to performing, Heather maintains an active studio of 20-30 students, teaching them piano, harp and voice lessons each week. She is blessed and happy to be able to make a living entirely through music and is committed to maintaining excellence in her work so that she can continue doing so. She seeks to honor the Lord by doing all things with cheerful diligence and by praising Him with her music whenever possible.
Additional booking notes
Amplification
The harp projects well enough that it usually does not need to be amplified unless it is competing with the sound of a nearby fountain or trying to fill a very large space. If amplification is desired and you have hired a DJ, I recommend asking the DJ to provide a microphone which he can connect to his sound system. If no DJ is available, I can provide a small amplifier setup of my own. Power must be provided by the client. The cost for me to provide the extra equipment needed is $40.
Space
I need at least 5 square feet of open space in which to set up. If I am using extra amplification, I need at least 7 square feet.
Equipment
I provide all my own equipment, including my stool and music stand.
Shade
For outdoor events, protection from sun is needed. If there is not enough foliage at the venue to provide a shady spot, the client is responsible for providing adequate shade in the form of a tent or awning.
