Overview
I play my harp for a variety of events and enjoy bringing my special touch to each one. I have been playing since 2006. My religious convictions mean I play for heterosexual weddings. Learning new music is something I'm very open to and do regularly for brides and grooms. I am flexible and willing to do whatever I can to make your dream event a reality.

Meg is very talented and professional. She made our wedding day so special and beautiful! It felt like heaven with the harp music playing. She was easy to communicate with and brought a calm presence to our farm.

Gig length: 30 - 300 minutes
What to expect
When booking with me, you can expect an optional consultation with up to 6 people in attendance.
I will play up to 5 hours of music, with 15 minute breaks every hour to avoid injury.
I play both indoor and, as long as the weather permits, outdoor events. For outdoor events, the temperature must be between 60 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit. The harp must be in full shade, on level, dry ground. If there is strong wind, I cannot play because of the risk of the harp being blown over and damaged in the fall.
I provide a contract detailing requirements of both parties, as well as what will be done in the event I am prevented from playing.
You can request music that I do not know. I will learn it and add a fee based on the complexity and the amount of time I have to learn it.
I will show up to rehearsals.
I will show up early to the event.
About
I'm a Christian, wife, mom of two, and music lover. My primary instrument is the harp, but I'm accomplished in piano and have dabbled in flute, Irish whistles, Bodhran (Irish drum), and violin. I love making events magical because ambiance can make or break just about anything.
I started harp when I was 13 at the Peabody Preparatory in Baltimore, MD and continued at the University of Maryland, where I was granted a scholarship for harp performance. During my time at the university, I was privileged to do a world premiere of La Saulaie pour baryton at orchestre by Claude Debussy. Debussy did not finish the piece before he died, but a Debussy scholar used all the written parts and fitted them together; he finished La Saulaie as he believed Debussy would have based on his writing style. It was a privilege and a thrill to premiere that beautiful piece!
I have played more weddings than I can remember over the years, and I enjoy adding that special touch. I'd always received comments about how "magical" it was. I decided to have a harp at my wedding, and it was very magical to walk down the isle to that angelic sound.
My favorite kind of gig is where I'm just background, no pressure, no timing; just contributing to the enjoyment of the guests. I've played for several dinners, awards ceremonies, a brunch, and a birthday party. I've played in a hospice as well.
The harp has the power to sooth and calm, and I love using that to help my audience relax and enjoy the event. It also has a transcendent sound, which brings that "magical" touch I love so much.
Additional booking notes
Payment must be made 5 business days in advance. For an outdoor event, in order to protect Meg’s harp, the temperature must be between 60 and 90 degrees, without rain or strong wind. If the temperature or weather is outside of those parameters on the day of the event, she will not play, but 50% of the payment will be refunded. The remaining 50% will be kept as payment for the services already rendered (i.e. practice time). If Meg has been requested to learn music, she will keep the fee charged. If Meg is unable to play, she will find a replacement harpist. If Meg is prevented from playing on the day of the wedding due to unforeseen circumstances, the entire amount will be refunded.
Meg’s harp must be in full shade and on flat, level, dry ground. It must be kept away from vents, windows, and drafts in order to preserve tuning. It must be kept out of strong wind to prevent falling. A 4×6 foot area will be required for Meg’s harp, music stand, and stool. Meg will take short breaks after every hour of playing in order to avoid injury.
Meg's harp requires wheelchair access. If there are more than 5 steps required to reach the event area, Meg will charge $1 per step because of the risk of damage to the harp.
