Overview
The Half Past Never band is a trio of well-seasoned Calgary-based musicians. We are strictly an instrumental band; no vocals. The style of jazz we play is known as Smooth Jazz. It's been described as refreshingly bluesy! We cover a wide range of jazzy material... from jazz standards to popular music, all done in a smooth jazz style. All songs we play are highly recognizable. Instrumentation is Bass, Guitar, and Drums. We provide a jazzy background ambiance so that people can talk while we play, but at the same time, provide a high degree of musicianship that listeners can appreciate... perfect for club dates, corporate events, and weddings.

We hired Half Past Never to play at our cocktail party and they were perfect for that - nice smooth jazz that set the tone and allowed people to still converse while enjoying the music. Danny was easy and pleasant to work with. Received great feedback from our guests as well.

What to expect
What would you see and what would you get? In a word.... professionalism! You'll see 3 well-dressed musicians; one on electric guitar, one on electric bass, and one on acoustic drums. You'll get great music, featuring some of the coolest smooth jazz renditions of both traditional jazz and popular tunes. Most people will recognize every single song we perform. You'll also have the ability to talk while the band is playing... our mission is to create a wonderful background ambiance by playing as quietly as needed, but also with the ability to crank it up if requested.
Additional booking notes
We come fully equipped with our own instruments and drum kit. All we require is a proper stage with a few electrical outlets and minimal lighting. The stage must be large enough to accommodate 3 musicians with a few small amplifiers and a drum set. It's preferable for the stage to be carpeted.
