Ken was excellent to work with. His communication from the moment we booked was amazing along with his help in selecting the pieces for the actual ceremony. He took the time to facilitate an in depth pre wedding call to completely understand the brides expectations for her special day.
He provided a wonderful background of upbeat music during the dinner hour and elevated our entire wedding experience.
Would highly recommended him !!!

October 16, 2023Non profit event
Ken did a wonderful job at our work event. He arrived on time, communicated promptly and was easy to work with. He picked a good song for the vocal. I am only giving him 4 stars because he misspelt and mispronounced my name multiple times in spite of correction. Overall, his performance as a musician and guitarist was on point.

What to expect
When you hire Guitarist Ken, you're getting more than background music—you're creating an atmosphere that helps people relax, connect, and enjoy the moment.
My performances feature a blend of original solo guitar compositions, familiar favorites from the 1960s through today, timeless instrumental classics, light jazz, folk, and inspirational music. Whether your event calls for elegant instrumental music or a mix of instrumentals and vocals, I tailor each performance to fit the occasion and the audience.
I believe live music should complement an event rather than compete with it. During dinners, receptions, cocktail hours, corporate gatherings, and community events, my goal is to enhance conversations and create a welcoming environment instead of overwhelming the room with excessive volume. Guests often tell me that the music is engaging without being intrusive—a soundtrack that brings people together.
If your event is more concert-oriented, I'm equally comfortable sharing the stories behind my original compositions and interacting with audiences in a relaxed, conversational style. Many of my original works have been released on major streaming platforms and have been featured on curated playlists around the world, bringing a unique and personal touch to each performance.
Every event is different, so I'm happy to work with you in advance to understand the setting, timing, and musical style you're looking for. Whether you're planning a private party, restaurant engagement, corporate function, holiday gathering, or community celebration, my goal is simple: to provide professional, dependable entertainment that leaves your guests saying, "That was exactly the right music for this occasion.
About
Ken Rothacker's mix of solo guitar instrumentals of pop, jazz, and Beatles tunes keeps audiences engaged and entertained. Classical repertoire, and original compositions are also part of the mix.
Ken also sings "Songs from the Radio" - the classic/yacht rock that audiences know and enjoy.
Ken's performing career has included hundreds of weddings, concerts, and private events, a number of National Anthem renditions at Wrigley Field in Chicago, and an appearance in the Season 2 Finale of Netflix' reality hit "Love is Blind".
Ken believes that live music creates a unique feeling, a special energy, and an ambience that simply cannot be duplicated.
Additional booking notes
My performance setup is compact, professional, and designed to make your event as simple as possible.
For most indoor events, I need only a standard 120-volt electrical outlet and a space of approximately 6' × 6'. A corner or location along the perimeter of the room typically works best, allowing the music to enhance your event while keeping me conveniently out of the flow of guest traffic.
For outdoor events—including beach weddings, parks, gardens, and other locations where electricity may not be available—I can perform using a completely battery-powered sound system. This allows me to provide high-quality live music without requiring access to electrical power.
I arrive with all of the equipment needed for my performance, including sound system, microphone (when needed), and instrument amplification. Setup generally takes about 30–45 minutes, and I appreciate access to the performance area before guests arrive whenever possible. Breakdown is typically completed within 20–30 minutes after the performance.
If your venue has any special requirements or restrictions, I'm happy to coordinate in advance to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Set list
For background music engagements, I typically perform 12–14 songs per hour.
Every event is different, so rather than following a rigid playlist, I choose songs based on the audience, the setting, and the overall atmosphere.
My goal is always to complement the occasion and create just the right musical backdrop.
This is not a "set in stone" set list, but these are some of the songs I frequently perform:
I Can See Clearly Now – Johnny Nash
I Saw the Light – Todd Rundgren
Here Comes the Sun – George Harrison
Take Me Home, Country Roads – John Denver
Time After Time – Cyndi Lauper
Wonderwall – Oasis
Brown Eyed Girl – Van Morrison
Have You Ever Seen the Rain – Creedence Clearwater Revival
While My Guitar Gently Weeps – George Harrison
You've Got a Friend – Carole King / James Taylor
Your Song – Elton John
Operator (That's Not the Way It Feels) – Jim Croce
I'm always expanding my repertoire, and with advance notice I'm happy to discuss songs that would make your event especially meaningful.
Influences and inspiration
I grew up listening to AM radio in the car, and those songs—especially from the 1960s through the 1990s—still resonate with me today. I love playing, singing, and sharing the timeless music that has become part of so many people's lives.
As a guitarist, I've also been deeply influenced by instrumental music and the works of great composers such as J.S. Bach, along with fingerstyle guitar artists whose creativity and musicianship continue to inspire me.
Ultimately, my greatest influence is the audience itself. My goal at every performance is to create an atmosphere where people can relax, connect, enjoy the moment, and make lasting memories together. And if anyone feels inspired to sing along to a favorite song, they're always welcome to join in!
