I play for public music festivals & recitals, corporate & private events, and have developed a specialty in performing for Wedding Ceremonies. I'm in the Charleston, SC area but have traveled to Maine, Costa Rica, Key West, Spain, Dominican Republic, California, and more - with my classical guitar. I have a variety of performance packages as a soloist or in various duets, trios, or ensembles. While my unique specialty is classical and Latin I also play in a Latin band and I have a few friends that I play some classic rock & blues with on occasion. I have battery-powered mobile amplification for outdoor ceremonies with an electric classical guitar to ensure a clear beautiful sound. While I specialize in classical and Spanish/Latin guitar, I have an extensive repertoire of pop (Marry Me, etc), jazz (Fly Me to the Moon), classic rock (Beatles), and oldies (My Girl, Stand by Me). Besides playing a couple dozen weddings in Charleston each year, Guitarist Gregory Guay has performed as a soloist in the Guitar Foundation of America Festival, Piccolo Spoleto Festival, various universities, and for the Holy City Guitar Series. He has performed in ensembles such as the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Charleston Gospel Choir, the Tu-Guay guitar & violin duo, and Caja de Cuerdas, a latin inspired group. Gregory received his Masters Degree in Classical Guitar at Appalachian State University and his Bachelors and Artist Certificate at College of Charleston receiving scholarship and awards for Instrumental Excellence. He has studied in Master Classes under Eduardo Fernandez, Pasquale Rucco, Ricardo Coba, Marc Regnier, and Douglas James. His guitar talents and versatility range from Bach to Beatles; traditional Spanish and Latin works to modern improvisation and composition. He founded LowCo Suzuki Guitar Studio in Mount Pleasant where he teaches classical guitar. You can find his music on iTunes. Gregory has also studied Alexander Technique, Yoga, martial arts, various dances, and ORFF Music, which he combines with Suzuki training, and for a unique, fun, successful approach to teaching guitar with wonderful musicianship.
