What to expect
When people come out to see Gods of Grunge, they’re getting more than a band playing 90s songs in the corner of a room. They’re getting a full night of high-energy live music built around the songs everybody actually knows and wants to sing along to.
We focus heavily on the best of 90s rock and grunge with artists like Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, Weezer, Third Eye Blind, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Bush, and more. The goal for us has always been to recreate the energy and nostalgia of that era while still making the show feel fun, live, and engaging instead of sounding like a jukebox.
Our members all come from years of live performance and studio experience, so event organizers can expect a professional group that shows up prepared, communicates clearly, and understands how to read a crowd. We know how to adapt to different environments whether it’s a brewery patio, private event, festival stage, bike night, club, corporate event, or community festival.
Clients hiring Gods of Grunge can expect:
Professional sound and stage setup
Strong audience interaction without being over-the-top cheesy
A crowd-friendly setlist built for singalongs and energy
Flexible performance options for different venues and event types
Reliable communication and promotion support for public events
A band that genuinely loves the music we play
In addition to our full electric show, we also offer acoustic sets and family-friendly performances tailored for daytime events, patios, breweries, community gatherings, and mixed-age crowds. We can adjust the energy and song selection depending on the atmosphere an event is looking for while still keeping the spirit of 90s rock alive.
Our shows tend to attract people who grew up with this music, but we also see younger crowds connecting with it too. The atmosphere usually turns into a pretty big singalong by the end of the night, especially once the late-90s radio hits start rolling.
Whether someone wants a laid-back acoustic afternoon set, a family-friendly outdoor event, or a packed Saturday night rock show, we work hard to make the event memorable and easy for the organizer.
About
From the Triad of North Carolina comes the Gods of Grunge, a 90’s pop and rock band featuring four of the region’s top musicians. Established in 2023, the flannel-clad quartet focused on the formative songs of their own youth, the “Seattle sound” – Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and more, that changed the face of 90’s music and culture.
They have continued to expand their sonic palette to include pop-rock bands like Matchbox 20, Weezer, and Lenny Kravitz, as well as genre-bending rap (Beck, Beastie Boys, Cake) that also gained popularity throughout the decade. Playing shows throughout the state, they have discovered that they resonate with not only the Gen X’ers that grew up with the music, but that generation’s children who have had it passed down to them. This gives the Gods of Grunge an incredibly wide audience that are attracted to their performances.
The Gods of Grunge – Patrick Ferguson, Derek Gurley, Matt Plaster and Joshua West – bring diverse crowds, top-notch performances from seasoned musicians, three-part harmonies, and a good time.
