🐿Girls With Squirrels🐿

We arrive about an hour before our start time to set up and run a very short sound check. In a typical 3 hour performance we play 3 sets (2 breaks of around 20 minutes). We often play for a shorter amount of time and adjust breaks accordingly. We absolutely take requests and will do our best to honor them. We set up a table with a tip jar, contact information and usually a candy dish or cookie tray (squirrel cookies!) for our audience to enjoy. We are very conscious of volume and aim for the best sound from our system and our selves:). If an event is public, we advertise it on our Facebook page and on our printed schedule available at our performances.

The two of us have been singing together since 2010. We met, and remain, in a group called The PopTarts that performs 60’s girl group music. In late 2019 we decided to give our duo project a whirl. We had ONE gig booked - Mothers Day 2020. Guess what happened! (COVID!) That gig would have been at the Blind Squirrel Winery and that’s part of the story behind our silly name. We enjoyed learning new songs and rehearsing so much that we kept going, and as things opened up we started booking gigs on a regular basis (Including the Blind Squirrel, so we kept the name!). We have a huge song list now and can customize well for the audiences we’re with. We choose songs that are well-loved and well-known and that we know will sound great when we sing them in perfect harmony. We’re staying pretty busy but still looking to fill our calendar up with new places and events. We’re also really enjoyable and easy to work with. Hope to see you at your event or a GWS show soon!

Our requirements are few…..we need electricity and a spot! It’s just the two of us (and we’re smallish) and our equipment - usually two speakers on stands, a mixing board, our microphones…we bring all of our own stuff including squirrels…and sometimes cookies!
