Here in Los Angeles and I have created a band of a talented, positive vibe, solid top notch and versatile professional touring musicians who excel at their craft. I specialize in Reggae Soul Groove music, yet am very versatile in playing many styles. I love music and the joy it brings to everyone. Our presence on stage reflects this joy and positive vibrations that we share with audiences everywhere. Wether it be a wedding, corporate event, birthday party or any excuse for a party - we always bring a professional attitude and deliver to the highest standards every time.

The band size is flexible depending on your needs and budget. My default band is a four piece (Drums/Bass/Lead Guitar/myself on Rhythm Guitar, Saxophone and Lead Vocals). The band members also sing harmonies and Back Ground Vocals. Conversely I am flexible to make it a trio (Bass/Drums/Myself [sax/vocals/guitar]) if your budget is much smaller; or a 10 piece with all the bells and whistles if your event is looking for that. I also perform as a duo or solo performance if you are looking for an intimate vibe.

I am able to play any song requests with enough notice and time to prepare. I can honestly and truly say I have never had a gig where the clients were disappointed! I usually get loads of compliments for our music and vibe and my band are all positive good vibe people and professionals.

From a sun kissed studio on the coast of Southern California, Gidon brings us a unique and authentic reggae sound. Fusing elements of rock, jazz, soul and old-school roots-rock-reggae, Gidon creates a sunny, groove-filled sound that is every bit as soulful as the Jamaican legends who inspired him. His high-vibe music reflects the diverse, cross-cultural influences that defined his early years. Being a veritable jack of all trades, Gidon is often juggling multiple roles on his tracks including: writing, producing, performing, engineering and composing. This multi-instrumentalist creates original songs and rhythms with a true reggae aficionado’s aplomb.

His latest single “High Times” (2018) follows up the successful “Rise” EP release from 2016 (Slipway Records, London, U.K.). He is currently wrapping up the finishing touches on a new EP (Scheduled release February 2020). Many of these new songs originated during his years spent in Jamaica with some of the most legendary artists around: Sly and Robbie, Beres Hammond, and Clive Hunt to name a few. These amazing producers and artists have lent their ears, hands and hearts to Gidon’s music to create a perfect hybrid sound of the highest order.

His first Jamaican single “Call Me” (Liberation House 2013) produced by Robbie Shakespeare and Maestro, got steady radio play on MELLOW FM and the venerable IRIE FM - Jamaica’s number one radio station. The “Rise” EP (Slipway Records 2016) had major play on revered selector David Rodigan's BBC 1 Radio Xtra and Dennis Bovell's "Dub on Air" program on SOHO Radio. Chuck Foster - L.A.’s revered host of KPFK’s “Reggae Central” is a big supporter and spinner of Gidon’s fresh cuts.

This international recording artist has planted roots around the globe with his positive vibe and universal sound. His new band Gidon Up & The Get Downs are perfectly suited for festivals and stage shows of all shapes and sizes and audiences. Past noteworthy events include: Ostroda Reggae Festival - playing alongside Stephen Marley, Sly & Robbie and Katchafire in 2011; performing and winning Carbondale, Colorado’s 2012 Mountain Fair Songwriters Competition; Opening the 2013 “Reggae to Reggae” show in Portland, Jamaica alongside Ken Boothe, Judy Mowatt, Duane Stephenson; Veg Fest in L.A. and Orange County, California (phone number hidden)7.
