We are General Purpose a progressive rock band based in Greensboro NC, we provide an immersive musical experience and energetic performing act. Akin to the likes of Yes, Genesis, Jethro Tull, and King Crimson we pull from their style and the traditions of classical/jazz music. Performing both Originals and Covers, we are suitable for private events and public events. Our instrumentation is as follows:
Voice, Violin, Saxophone, E. Guitar, E. Bass and Drums.

General Purpose brings an excitingly immersive progressive rock act, guaranteed to entertain with soaring guitar solos, violin melodies, poetic lyrics and overall bursting energy.
General Purpose is a Progressive Rock Band based in Greensboro, NC. The group utilizes classical instruments such as clarinet and violin and puts them into a rock context. Drawing influence from 70's acts such as Jethro Tull, Yes, Genesis and others, combined with Classical and Jazz influence, songwriters Xul Rutty (Bass/Vocals) and Uno Dos Santos (Guitar) create a symphonic experience through the large instrumentation. General Purpose is dedicated to creating a unique and interactive concert experience to demand the audience’s full attention, even collaborating with visual artists.
