Gavin Hooper

Expect a fast-moving, interactive show built around real people from your audience. Volunteers become the stars while everyone else enjoys the unexpected situations, reactions and genuine laughter that make every performance different.

The comedy is clean with mild adult innuendo when appropriate for the audience, and volunteers are always treated with respect. Gavin has spent more than 30 years learning how to read a room and adjust the show to the people in front of him.

The result is an experience people participate in together, laugh about together and continue talking about long after the show is over.

Gavin Hooper has spent more than 30 years entertaining audiences with clean, interactive comedy hypnosis. With more than 1,700 shows behind him, Gavin has performed in 29+ countries, headlined for cruise lines, and appeared at major state fairs, Canadian exhibitions, corporate events, conferences and private functions.

Experience matters when you’re putting someone in front of your employees, clients or guests. Gavin knows how to read a room, work with different audiences and create a show that gets people laughing together without embarrassing the volunteers who make it possible.

The goal is simple: give your guests a great experience and give you one more reason to feel good about the event you planned.

Sound is the most important technical consideration for my show. The volunteers need to hear me clearly at all times.

I recommend a minimum of two powered speakers on stands, positioned behind the volunteer seating area, along with at least one, preferably two, wedge-style stage monitors positioned in front of the volunteers. A cordless microphone is required, along with the ability to connect my music to the sound system using XLR connections.

When I am driving to an event, I am fully self-contained and can provide my own sound system, microphone and related equipment.

Lighting is appreciated and can enhance the performance, but clear, properly positioned sound is the priority.

When possible, approximately 10–15 feet of space between the volunteers and the audience is preferred. This gives participants who are fully engaged in the hypnotic experience enough room to move safely and act out the fun and sometimes wacky suggestions.

I carry professional liability insurance. Coverage information can be provided when required.

A performance contract will be provided and must be signed and returned with the required retainer to secure the agreed-upon date and performance time.

One little wording choice I especially like here is “retainer to secure the agreed-upon date and performance time.” That’s stronger than “deposit” and makes the purpose of the payment crystal clear.
