About
Gabriel Harmon, born in Lawrenceville, GA, is an active performer and teacher with over a decade of experience playing the cello. He began his journey at eleven years old, joining his middle school orchestra and being self-taught for most of his journey. Currently a fourth-year student at Kennesaw State University, he is pursuing degrees in both Music Performance and Marketing. He has been taught by a few world-renowned cellists as well as members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, shaping his artistry and approach to music.
As a classical performer, he has served as principal cellist in various ensembles. He also had his solo debut with the KSU Symphony Orchestra in March 2025 with Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E Minor. He remains an active teacher, offering private lessons and coaching school sectionals throughout the metro Atlanta area. Some of his achievements include winning the KSU Concerto Competition in 2024 (a two-time finalist of the competition), and he is also the recipient of both the John and Linda Cooke Quartet Scholarship and the Honors Dr. Bobbie Bailey Endowed Music Scholarship.
Due to his innovative approach to spreading music, he took part in a never-before-seen collaboration — performing with the KSU Dance Department for Yankalle Filtser’s “Knot Love” in November 2025. This collaboration demonstrated Gabriel’s versatility and brought tremendous growth to his career, expanding his network and redefining his musicality.
As for his freelance work, he has played in numerous weddings, professional receptions for major events, surprise parties for loved ones, and more! He continues to perform either solo, in a duet, trio, or quartet as well. Through his fascinating solo and small ensemble performances, Gabriel remains one of the fastest-growing freelance cellists in the state of Georgia.
Throughout his journey, he is beyond grateful for Charae Krueger, his cello teacher at Kennesaw State University. Without her leadership, encouragement, and opportunities given, he simply wouldn’t be where he is today.
