Impressive!!

Dana arrived just after I did, at least an hour early for the funeral. She was on top of her game. I was the bagpiper for the funeral, and we worked together to prepare for the funeral. Dana is an expert in her field, she obviously knows, what she’s doing. I asked her some questions about how these doves are able to navigate back to her homebase. It’s incredible to think that a dove can navigate from a brand new location every time, and find their way 16 miles back to her homebase. I am a pilot, and I could not do that without instruments. But these doves don’t have instruments to work with. Anyway, I was very impressed with Dana and her attention to detail . I would recommend her services to anyone looking for a dove release service for their wedding or funeral or party.
Sincerely, Jon Lehman, Ozark bagpiper.

What to expect

We will assist you at every step of the way. Our handlers will arrive at your event an hour early to set up the birds for the release. They may be in a basket, a release crate, or a pretty display cage. We might work with your florist or event planner to insure the location is attractive and decorated to your specifications. We will speak with your officiant or director to coordinate the moment of release. If a 'by hand' release is planned, we will show you how to hold the doves and help place them in your hands and you will be instructed how to gently toss them in the air to send them on their way. Don't worry if you 'fumble' and let one go accidentally early. We always bring extras. We can also plan to bring more for your photographer to get just the right shot. Anyone may be designated to open baskets, or we will do it for you. Please understand the birds must be released at least an hour before sundown, outdoors, and only in fair weather. If conditions are not ideal for the safety of our birds, we can arrange to display the birds and take photos without releasing them. Refunds will be provided only if the weather does not cooperate.

About

Our flock was started in 2007 when we traveled to Florida to obtain our birds from a small flock descended from birds Walt Disney began with for his animators of Snow White. Our doves fly home to our loft east of Springdale and rejoin their flock family of about 70 birds. You may see them circle for a while to get their bearings or chill out in a nearby tree or rooftop before heading home. Their exact behavior is up to them!

We have had doves return from as far away as Little Rock, although we no longer take them outside of Washington, Benton or Madison County.

How doves navigate from places they've never been before is one of the mysteries of nature. But they do!

Our birds are very athletic and fly free every day. This is why it is important to only use trained birds. Doves or pigeons kept in a coop or cage have not developed flying muscles and have no home to fly to. The consequences of releasing untrained birds are inhumane and tragic.
