Fretless Music offers a variety of traditional and unique musicians and groups. Fretless Strings, our more traditional ensembles, has stepped beyond the classical realm of most string groups and embraced the modern world of music. Bowtime is our more one-of-a-kind offering, featuring violin + marimba with optional guitar, bass or cello, piano, and percussion. All of our musicians in Fretless Strings and Bowtime perform a wide variety of classical, latin, jazz, pop, soundtrack music and more.

November 29, 2025Choosing Fretless for our wedding ceremony musicians was, without a doubt, one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day. They went above and beyond!
From the moment our first guests walked in until the last person left, the musicians put on an incredible performance. They were professional, polished, and so kind and polite. Their repertoire was impressive; they have classic pieces available to choose from as well as modern hits; something for everyone.
Beyond the music, working with Stephanie was an absolute joy. She was a wonderful communicator, organized, and made the planning process stress-free.
The Fretless musicians created the most wonderful and magical atmosphere for our wedding. I highly recommend them for your wedding or special event! Thank you SO much!

The musicians were incredibly talented and brought such a special energy to the day, they made the whole experience unforgettable for us and our guests. We had a mix of pop and classical songs, and they played everything beautifully. Couldn’t recommend them more!

June 18, 2025I cannot say enough good things about Stephanie and Fretless! They made our ceremony and cocktail hour feel so special and unique. They were one of our favorite things at our wedding and all our guests loved it. If you’re looking for something to elevate your wedding or event, I highly highly recommend Fretless! Stephanie is so responsive and made everything so easy! They also had a HUGE repertoire to choose from, everything from modern music to classical, it was super fun to look through and choose everything that felt right for our day!

We received so many compliments from our guests on how incredible Fretless Strings were! Many of our guest comparing to the Bridgerton show and creating a classy atmosphere. Not only was the music beautiful, they made the entire process seamless from the booking all the way to creating the list of music we wanted played at our ceremony and cocktail hour.
They were extremely responsive to all messages even over a year out from our big day.

Fretless Music's musicians arrive on time and dressed for the event. Expect an engaging performance, beautiful tone, and musicality from ourselves and the musicians we provide.
Stephanie Young holds a Bachelor of Music degree from UW-Milwaukee, and did post graduate work at Alverno College. Besides running and playing violin with Fretless Strings, she can be found performing regularly with Bowtime Quintet and Animal Farm, and occasionally with Fox Valley Symphony. She has performed with such notables as the rock band Kansas, Peter Cetera from the rock group Chicago, Rod Stewart, Final Fantasy "Distant Worlds: Milwaukee" show, Doc Severinsen at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center, and most recently Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses. Stephanie has recorded music for Milwaukee Public Television and for composers Thor Bremer, Luke Wieting, and Tammy Ann Winn. Besides performing, Ms. Young also enjoys teaching violin and piano at The Music Suite in Naperville, IL.
Due to the sensitive nature of acoustic string instruments, outside performances must have shade from direct sunlight and protection from extreme cold/heat/moisture/wind.
If sound equipment is needed, musicians can be amplified using the Bose L1 Model 1S with B1 Bass Module at no additional cost.
