I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Marty perform live in downtown Portland, Maine and elsewhere. He’s a fabulous musician with taste and artistry, and a professional, relaxed vibe. Just a lovely person to boot. This is a versatile musician who always serves the event or performance when I’ve seen him. Highly recommended.

October 2, 2025The best of the best!
Working with Marty Lang was the experience of a lifetime. Playing with him made me a better musician. He is pro all the way. He's great to work with, always prepared and with a vast knowledge of his art. And his gorgeous tone is to die for. One of the most innovative guitarists I've ever heard. I was blessed to have had the opportunity to make music with the man.

A great guitarist and talented writer and performer. He helped me make a great blues jass album in 2016. He is as steady and dependable as a rock. If you need a guitarist, he's a great one.

What to expect
Partnership Expectations for Our Musical Collaboration
What I Bring to Our Partnership
Professionalism & Reliability
I'm committed to presenting myself professionally both on and off stage, arriving on time, and departing promptly when possible. I maintain a substance-free approach to performing, ensuring I'm always at my best for your venue and audience.
Audience & Venue Focus
My goal is to accommodate both your vision as the venue owner and create an engaging experience for your patrons. I believe in bringing a fun, entertaining atmosphere that keeps people coming back to your venue.
Technical Preparedness
I keep my equipment current through regular maintenance and repairs. When needed, I can provide additional sound and lighting equipment to enhance the show, although this may affect costs.
Professional Appearance
I dress appropriately for each venue's atmosphere and clientele, ensuring my appearance complements your establishment's image.
Performance Structure & Logistics
Set Organization For three-set performances, I typically use a 40-20 structure: first set (40 minutes), break (20 minutes), second set (full hour), break (20 minutes), final set (40 minutes). I'm completely flexible on this timing and happy to adjust based on your venue's needs and crowd flow.
Weather Considerations for Outdoor Events
For outdoor performances, I'd appreciate adequate weather protection including coverage from sun and precipitation. If severe weather conditions make it unsafe to continue despite coverage, I hope we can work together on a fair resolution while ensuring everyone's safety.
Business Partnership Payment & Contracts
To keep things smooth for both of us, I prefer payment at the end of each performance. For engagements over $600, I like to use a simple contract to ensure we're both clear on expectations and details.
Our Shared Success
I'm excited about the opportunity to contribute to your venue's success and reputation. My approach is always to create an experience that entertains your audience, reflects well on your establishment, and builds the kind of atmosphere that brings people back. I believe the best gigs happen when the performer and venue owner work as a team toward the same goal.
I'd love to discuss how we can tailor this partnership to work perfectly for your venue and your audience. What matters most to you in terms of the musical experience you want to create?
About
Marty Lang - Musician Bio
Marty Lang's musical journey began at seventeen when he joined the country band The Country Squires, sparking a passion that would define his career. In 1978, committed to pursuing music professionally, he enrolled in the University of Maine's music program in Augusta, where he studied under renowned musicians including Chuck Winfield, Tom Hoffman, Roswell Rudd, and Dave Dempsey.
During his university years, Lang performed with Bob Seger and the Country Troubadours, a group that earned recognition as Maine's number one country band. This early success launched a diverse career spanning over five decades, during which he has contributed his talents to numerous acclaimed groups including AZ IZ, Loose Connection, The Moondawgs, The New England Jazz Band, The Larry Peterson Project, Jenny Jumpstart and the Capguns, and The Moosehedz.
Lang's collaborative spirit has led him to record and perform with an impressive roster of industry professionals, including Harry King (producer for Aerosmith, Robin Thicke, and Lil Wayne), artists from Robin Hood Studios (known for their work with ZZ Top), Fred Carpenter (fiddler for Emmylou Harris), Dick Curless, and Roger Michaud, among many others.
With over fifty years navigating the dynamic world of music, Marty Lang continues to bring his seasoned expertise and passion to every performance, embodying the versatility and dedication that have made him a respected figure in the music community.
Additional booking notes
I have two requirements for the stage.
1. if the performance is outdoors, I need proper coverage. This means that I won't be exposed to rain or sun. Both of these elements are unsafe.
2. If the venue is houses more that 200 people then we will need to discuss who will provide the sound and the price.
