Frank Porter
Overview
*Price can be negotiable
Frank Porter can perform all original songs, all covers, or both. He's an award-winning singer-songwriter & lead guitarist with years of band & solo experience and travels with great sound gear.
Some bands he covers: Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Neil Young, Kiss, & Cream. In 2020, Frank added a looper pedal to his act. Gibson guitars awarded him 1st place in a guitar soloing competition out of 320 others from six states which is why and how he incorporated the use of a looper pedal into his live act, making it a unique and more fulfilling experience for everyone including him. It’s about fun, and about professionalism at the same time.

July 22, 2024Solid performance!!!
Frank was a great treat to our event. I had many people ask me about Frank they all loved his performance with a wide range of music. We had moment of heavy showers come down on the party and he never flinched throughout his performance and trusted the overhead cover I set up for him. He had great stories, and fantastic stage presence I recommend him to anyone!!!

What to expect
This question has more than one answer. Here's why. I do more than one type of show. Depending on what type of show I am doing you can have quite a different experience from one to another. I work with clients to be sure I am giving them what they are looking for and are paying me for.
With that said, you can find me playing events at restaurants, pubs, universities and many other types of venues. You may find me on stage at a theater like The Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg, PA or The Roxy Theatre in Northampton, PA, or The Majestic Theater in Pottsville, PA performing to a large audience. You may find me at a farm market as background music or performing, depending on the market's preferences, or at a bridal shower or dinner party as background music. For those type of gigs I wear a suit and tie.
More often you will find Frank delivering a lot of classic rock with an occasional song from any era and style thrown in just for fun. Many of the songs can be danced to, though I wouldn't categorize what I do as dance music. I don't just stand there unless that is what is appropriate for the event. I tend to move around as I perform and entertain the audience. I believe in putting on a show whenever possible. Also, I always have fun doing this and quite often my fun infects the crowd and then we're all having fun!
You will also get some of the best sound. I am a professional engineer and producer in addition to being an artist. I really care about the details and it shows. I have a couple different systems depending on how small or how large the venue is. My larger system has been used at a college stadium. I don't usually bring that one unless it's a large room or is outdoors and even then it has to be a large space. In addition to great sound you will get someone who is professional and will be ready to start at the time you specify.
About
Before you dive in to Frank's bio we thought it would be a great place to start by having you read this response we received when we asked Matt Province if it was alright to use him as a reference.
"Yes, please feel free to use me and the Zoo as a reference. Obviously, we can speak to the quality of your work — as well as the work ethic and going above and beyond expectations.
Hopefully will get to see you performing again soon at the zoo!
Here’s to a much better 2021!

One more note: The stage outfit Frank is wearing is from the cover of Frank Porter Live - Volume II. The album came out in January of 2023. The reason I bring this up however, is for another reason altogether. Frank can and does dress differently for different types of gigs. Covid has been hard on musicians and Frank managed to put out a new album in 2023. It costs money to make and release albums. Frank has expanded his range of what types of shows he can deliver. He's been playing at dinner parties, cocktail parties, formal university events, birthday parties, bridal showers, Irish wakes, and Christmas parties. Yes with real Christmas music. So please do feel free to think outside the box when it comes to booking Frank Porter. Versatile and professional with pro sound and presentation to your specifications.
Bio begins here:
There’s no easy way to describe what musical artist, Frank Porter, does at his live shows. He puts on a high energy and interactive performance using electric lead pyrotechnics on acoustic guitar. The result is amazing when you consider what one award-winning guitarist with a looper pedal, and an attitude can do. He clearly owns whatever stage he is performing on.
Having a performance history from the stages of CBGB's and Bleeker Park in New York City to Le Grand Fromage and The Boneyard in Atlantic City to Love Park, The Trocadero, World Café Live and Boathouse Row in Philadelphia, he's also well-known regionally. He's been featured at Mayfair in Allentown, PA, Easton’s College Hill Porch Fest, Kutztown Folk Festival, and then there’s Steel Stacks, Godfrey Daniels, the Blueberry Festival and Apple Days Festival at Burnside Plantation in Bethlehem, PA, Jaimey’s House of Music in Lansdowne, PA and Crooked Eye Brewery in Hatboro, PA, Crossroads in Garwood, NJ and most recently at The Majestic Theater in Pottsville, PA. Prior to COVID, he was a favorite of WFMZ’s “Music Monday” feature and recently got to return on September 27th, 2021.
Called “one of the best musicians in the world today “ by a founding member of Pandora, Frank is a gifted, sincere and driven entertainer. Gibson Guitars awarded him best lead guitarist out of 320 people from 6 states at their last Guitarfest guitar soloing competition. He also has 3 international songwriting awards from 2015, 2017 and 2020. ...And his 8th album--a full blown, professional studio production with Frank playing bass, guitar and drums—hope to be out before the end of the year! And one note to anyone who prefers cover songs, Frank delivers awesome classic rock, blues and blues rock cover songs which inspired and include his award-winning lead guitar style. Keeping great music alive while creating his own legacy in original music. Whether you want a great night of classic rock cover songs or want the artist Frank Porter or a mix of both Frank will deliver the goods.
While Frank is more known as an artist who does original songs and cover songs. He can shift gears and do soft soothing background music appropriate for cocktail parties and other events that prefer the music to be more in the background. Please inquire about this if interested.

Additional booking notes
I own two sound systems. One small and one large. I like to keep it simple. It works out for everyone by making our lives easy. I bring a 50 foot extension cable and everything else needed to provide a great experience. The one thing I need at every show is a functioning outlet not more than 50 feet away. One other thing I sometimes need is a tent. Two situations can cause the need for this. One is rain or snow at an outdoor event. The other is too much direct sunlight. If indoors I prefer cooler rather than hotter. AC is my friend. With that said I can handle it of there's no AC.

Note*
In addition to being a music artist and cover song act I also provide background music that would be appropriate for cocktail parties and other events that seek background music. I do a mix original material and some well known 70's and 80's songs that I alter to fit this type of event. Don't knock it till you try it. I weave the songs together in a manner where you get uninterrupted music for good stretches. I play at a volume that allows easy conversing. Think Wineries/Orchards and Country Clubs. Beautiful acoustic music. I played a yacht dock restaurant/bar on Lake Champlain regularly at one point doing background music. They loved me for two reasons. One, I had great material. Two, I understood background music is supposed to be quiet and that it's not about being the star of the show. I am comfortable providing whatever type of music and show you are looking for.
Influences and inspiration
Led Zeppelin, Roy Clark, Neil Young, James Taylor, Chet Atkins, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Foghat, Kiss, Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, and many more going back to Benny Goodman and others from that era as well as bands from more recent times as well. Alice In Chains, Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins. I will be adding songs from the more recent bands in the near future. I am working on my eighth album, "Dark Horse," and it's taking longer than expected. Trying to get it done so I can share it with you. For now check out this link to a rough cut of, Who I Am, without the bass guitar and using a drum machine for percussion.

I also do background instrumental music with other influences. Think soothing soft sounds. In this style I am sometimes influenced by new age along with folk, jazz and classical.
Setup requirements
I travel with my own gear usually. However, I know there are circumstances that may require using your gear. If I am not providing the gear, which I do at no extra charge, I would need a PA system with one microphone and one mic stand and a DI box.
I need an outlet and at least a ten by ten foot space. Bigger spaces are not a problem!
