Hi! My name is Flip Taal and I play the Handpan. This UFO resembling instrument embodies soft, meditative sounds that will ground you while simultaneously taking you to outer space; the handpan has a way of invoking deep emotional reactions. I combine expressive melodies with percussive elements and thrive at wedding processionals, art exhibitions, and other intimate settings.
My intention is to create a musical space for people to let their guards down in the midst of emotional moments or creative spaces.

What to Expect
This instrument allows me, a percussionist by heart to express myself through percussive and melodic elements and follow a purely improvisational flow. My Handpan scales are deeply touching, emotional, nostalgic, meditative and dreamy. This makes it especially great for Wedding ceremonies, Intimate settings, ambient background music in fine dining restaurants, gentle parts, living room concerts etc. I am offering partly improvised, partly written music that allows for a deeper dig into the emotional world.
My Name is Flip Taal and I play the Handpan. The UFO resembling WOK looking instrument is called Handpan or Pantam and was originally invented in Switzerland ( orig. name "Hang") and evolved through various other makers all over the world, which wouldn't have been possible without the existence of the Caribbean steel drum. It has 8- up to 28 tone fields and is usually tuned in one particular scale. It is played with the hands or very soft mullets.
I am originally from Germany and have played percussion instruments and guitar all my life. I have played at countless events and street performances all over Germany and parts of Europe and India.
