Fire Dancing by Venus DelMar

You can a expect a professional dancer that will entertain your guests with a beautiful intentional performance!

***Current costume choices: elegant all white, sparkly red, black & gold. Themed outfits~ Greek, Circus, Bellydance, Bollywood, Samba/Latin, Egyptian, Halloween. Costumes may be requested***

Typical Performance Scenarios:

1) perform a 15 minute set as a special highlight to the event, maximum of 2 sets within one hour (great for birthday parties, personal occasions, private events)

2) ambient performance where I perform 5-10 minute sets throughout an hour of music already at the event (great for DJ sets, festival performances, events with lots of entertainment)

3) perform with a world-class musician, combining the art of fire dancing with the live sounds of the didgeridoo & native american flute

My personal journey with fire dancing . . .

I have been a dancer my whole life~ I started by training in ballet, belly dance, hiphop and any style of dance I could get my hands on. My fire dancing journey began when I was on a beach in California. A stranger came up to me with two fire toys & placed them in my hands.

It was love at first burn!! Soon after I joined a fire dancing troup and adventured into the world of performing at festivals, parties & other events.

I absolutely love sharing my movement art and inspiring others, I additionally have students who I teach this beautiful and dangerous artform, with safety in mind, of course. I love bringing the magical element of fire to events & parties, especially for children!! They have the best reactions & are so sweet in their enthusiasm.

I enjoy dancing to different styles of music & coming up with my costumes! It's always fun to have a theme to coordinate with. I've done classic white angelic looks, gold royal egyptian aesthetic, bold red samba outfits, and sexy dark halloween outfits.

My biggest accomplishment has been performing for Great America in California for a whole Halloween season.

I performed with other professionals in group choreography and as a soloist. It was so incredibly fun & magical, with booked out shows every single weekend. It was so fulfilling as a performer to have consistent work with a wonderful talented group of dancers. We made so many people & families happy & had wonderful spooky makeup & costumes!

I have probably performed at every kind of event, from weddings to birthday parties, to sacred ceremonies, to huge festival stages, to halloween events & corporate functions.

In addition to performing with fire, I dance with silk fan veils & I belly dance, great options for environments and venues that aren't able to have fire.

Frequently Asked Questions~

Have you ever gotten burnt?

No. In over the 10 years I've been doing this I haven't! It takes a lot of body awareness & practice to be comfortable and safe dancing with fire.

Where is your favorite place to fire dance?

There's something very magical about fire dancing in water. So I'd say in a river or by the ocean are one of my favorite places to spin fire.

Fire dancing is best performed outdoors before, during, or after sunset.

Music:
I can send a playlist of songs to a DJ, bring my own musician to play while I perform, or dance to the music already provided at event- flexible to various scenarios depending on the event.

Stage Requirements:

Approximately 15 by 15 ft flat ground (stage flooring, concrete, grass)
Nothing flammable above the stage (trees, decorations, etc)
Another area separate to stage area to set up fire equipment

Other Fire Performance Considerations:

Extreme winds are unsafe for outdoor performances
For indoor performances high ceilings/venue permission is required
Typically a dancer brings a 'fire safety' to help with the show
