Truly inspirational

Truly inspirational and refreshingly authentic, Steve’s ability to connect with the audience created a powerful atmosphere that had everyone fully engaged from start to finish. What impressed me most was how his message stayed with people well beyond the event—our group continued to talk about the ideas and inspiration they shared long after the session ended.

About

Steve Kane is a keynote speaker, CEO of Rolling Strong Wellness, and creator of The Box of Life framework—helping individuals and teams reframe adversity into resilience and move forward with clarity and purpose.

With more than 30 years in the transportation industry, Steve has worked in nearly every role—from frontline positions to executive leadership. He understands firsthand the pressures people face every day, and how those pressures can impact performance, mindset, and growth if not handled the right way.

His journey is nothing short of extraordinary. From homelessness, addiction, and sleeping in a tent to living in a semi-truck, Steve rebuilt his life step by step, eventually becoming a respected transportation executive, wellness advocate, and Ironman triathlete. His story isn’t just about what he’s overcome—it’s about what he chose to do with it.

A cancer survivor with a pacemaker and more than his share of broken bones, Steve has faced adversity in many forms. Yet through every challenge, he has developed a mindset rooted in ownership, resilience, and forward momentum—principles that now form the foundation of his work.

Through his signature keynote, The Box of Life, Steve shares a powerful and practical message: you can’t change your past—but you can decide what it becomes. Using a compelling metaphor, he shows audiences how the experiences they carry can either weigh them down or become the very tools that help them grow, lead, and move forward.

Blending real-life storytelling with actionable insight, Steve challenges audiences to stop being defined by their past and start using it as a foundation for what’s next. His message resonates across industries and audiences because it is grounded in lived experience, not theory.

This isn’t just motivation—it’s a shift in perspective. One that helps people take ownership, build resilience, and discover what’s possible in their work and their lives.

A Note on Flexibility

These specifications represent the ideal setup, particularly for larger events where professional A/V enhances the experience.

However, Steve’s message is built on connection—not production.

Whether speaking in a fully equipped auditorium, a school gym, a correctional facility, or a hospital conference room, he adapts to the environment and meets the audience where they are.

“Put me in a room with 50 people who need to hear this message—and I’ll give everything I’ve got. That’s the promise.”

If your venue has limitations or unique circumstances, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’ll work together to create a powerful experience regardless of the setup.

Influences and inspiration

Influences

My life and speaking are shaped by a wide range of influences, people, experiences, and values that have helped me survive, grow, and lead.

I’ve been influenced by the streets and by the saints. By failure and by faith. I’ve studied greatness not just in books or on stages, but in shelters, boxing gyms, prisons, and hospital beds. I don’t just draw inspiration from public figures, I draw it from anyone who’s fallen hard and chosen to rise.

Some of my most meaningful influences include:
My mother and my son – the people who’ve reminded me what love and legacy really mean
The AA/NA recovery community – for teaching me truth, humility, and the courage to face myself
Boxing and martial arts – for discipline, control, and the relentless pursuit of mastery
Cancer warriors and survivors – for showing me the power of resilience in its rawest form
Ironman athletes and trainers – for proving that mental strength can carry you where your body thinks it can’t
Inmates and youth in crisis – for reminding me that potential is everywhere, if someone just believes
Leaders like Muhammad Ali, Rich Roehl, James J. Braddock, Gandhi, and Jesus – for modeling conviction, compassion, humility, and courage in the face of adversity
Spiritual mentors and everyday people of faith – who taught me the power of forgiveness and the beauty of purpose

But maybe the greatest influence on my work is pain itself. Pain gave me perspective. It taught me how to build tools out of trauma, to turn wounds into wisdom. That’s what The Box of Life is all about, and that’s what I bring to the stage.
