What to expect
During solo performances, I can perform for up to three hours. Depending on the setting and client preferences, I play instrumental fiddle in the background, or I sprinkle in some songs with words as well. For a quieter, more folky feel, I also sing a set of original songs and Americana folk songs with my guitar and banjo, mixing in some fiddle tunes as feels appropriate. I do not sing loudly on most songs, so I do need a mic setup for any gigs where I am singing. For my fiddle alone, depending on the venue, I may not need sound.
During performances with my trio, we play a variety of old-time tunes and songs, which can be mellow or lively depending on client preference. We currently have a setlist long enough to fill an hour and twenty minutes, but we are working on adding more material. We may be able to play requests if we all know the song.
When filling in for other bands who need a fiddle player, I am most experienced when the genre is old time, or if I am backing up a folk singer. I also sing harmony well. I can play some bluegrass style fiddle as well, but it is not my area of expertise, so I require a detailed setlist with keys at least a month in advance. I may also need a chart, depending on the complexity and specificity of the song arrangement. I learn quickly by ear, though, and am well accustomed to the Nashville number system. I do know some standard bluegrass tunes.

Influences and inspiration
My fiddling style is influenced largely by fiddlers like Kristen Harris, Brittany Haas, Emily Schaad, Bruce Molsky and Tatiana Hargreaves. I started playing classically when I was seven years old, but quickly turned to bluegrass and old-time once I discovered it at the ages of ten and fifteen, respectively. Most of the stylistic techniques I have developed today are inspired by other seasoned fiddlers I have had the pleasure of learning under throughout my middle and high school careers. I studied Appalachian folk music in college, where I delved more into chord theory and learned to play the guitar and clawhammer banjo. I also started songwriting during this time, which brought out more of an Americana-folk side of my musical style. My fiddling is still largely old-time though.
I have recently put together a trio with a local banjo player (Daniel Sherrill) and guitar player (Jeremy Ferrell), both of whom are brilliant and experienced musicians. We perform mostly within the old-time music genre, with some of our own original compositions mixed in with more traditional songs and tunes.
Setup requirements
SM-58 for vocals and SM-57 or 58 for fiddle, or condenser mic for both.
