About

I’m Nate Fenwick Smith, the creator behind Fenwick & the Futures, a project that lets me fuse my love of storytelling with the part of me that never stopped hearing music in everything. Before this band ever had a name, I was scoring for television and indie film, with credits that include ABC’s The Bachelor and Disney XD’s Beyblade Burst. Somewhere along the way, I picked up an Emmy win, an additional Emmy nomination for Best Music, and a deeper understanding of how to write something people don’t just hear, they feel.

I studied audio production, film, and composition at Arizona State University and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts finishing with an MFA in music, and spent over seven years as Creative Director, A&R Director, and Music Supervisor at ScoreKeepers Music in L.A. That season sharpened my instincts for creating emotionally resonant, commercially viable music, especially in fast-turnaround environments where heart and clarity have to move fast.

One of my first public singing moments happened live on Good Morning Arizona, performing a duet I wrote with Evie Clair, a finalist on America’s Got Talent. Recently, I returned to Phoenix to headline our album release show at The Rebel Lounge, nearly selling out the venue, even though it was our very first Arizona performance as a band.

Now, I lead Fenwick & the Futures alongside my wife Sarah Smith, whose voice adds magic to everything we record and every stage we stand on.

This isn’t just a band. It’s the most honest expression of who I am, and it’s finally waking up.
