What to expect

I have a very diverse skill set and repertoire. For contemporary styles, I am happy to work with you on selecting repertoire and learning music for an event. For classical, I can either learn the desired repertoire or present something from the repertoire list. Performances are usually anywhere from 1-3 hours, depending on the style and context of the event. I have experience singing for weddings, funerals, sporting events, and other special events.

About

Eva Pierce (Shey/They), Soprano, is a Singer, Community Organizer, Activist, and Visual Artist. Often noted for their brightly colored hair, eccentric style, and electric personality, Eva works tirelessly to push the boundaries of what an opera singer can look and sound like. Having grown up below the poverty line in rural Minnesota as a closeted Queer and Neurodivergent individual, Eva understands just how hard it is to fit into an art form that has historically had very clean boxes and labels of what a singer can be. They make a practice of integrating the arts and social justice whenever possible, knowing that art and music hold the keys to social change. They have specialties in Trans+ Vocal Pedagogy and Queering Opera.

During the 2025-26 Season, Eva will be performing “Aus Liebe will mein Heiland Sterben” from J.S. Bach’s Saint Matthew’s Passion. In the 2024-25 Season, Eva participated in JMU’s Opera Chorus for the Productions of The Little Prince and Mozart’s Idomeneo, as well as performing the role of “The Prince’s Sister” in The Littlest Mermaid.

Eva has embodied other notable roles as well, including Annina from La Traviata (2022), Suor Angelica (2023), and Suor Osmina (2024) from Suor Angelica. Eva is a choral scholar and regular soloist at Asbury United Methodist Church. Eva was a member of The Madison Singers ((phone number hidden)5) and has performed at the OAKE National Conference (2024) and Carnegie Hall (2025). An avid recitalist, Eva has studied the music of Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Handel, Britten, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Larsen, and many more. Eva is conversationally fluent in German, with proficiencies in Italian, Latin, French, and Russian as well. Eva is also an alumnus of Songfest (2023).

Not only do they specialize in classical music and opera, Eva also has a long history of performing Musical Theatre and Contemporary Commercial Music styles. She has taken several acting classes.

Eva received a B.A. in Music Performance in 2023 from Elon University and an M.M. in Music Performance from James Madison University in 2025. She was selected to sing the Alma Mater and the national anthem at Elon’s 2023 Convocation and JMU’s 2025 Graduate School Graduation Ceremony.

Influences and inspiration

I have been performing and training in the classical and musical theatre worlds for over 15 years. I am used to performance pressure and have a high attention to detail, creativity, and accountability.
