What to expect

I am a classically-trained tenor who specializes in liturgical music, though with capability to sing in a wide variety of options: country, musical theater, jazz, pop, gospel, etc. with equal amount of stylistic integrity. I can sing what parties choose, or, help in repertoire selection. I work well with house organists or pianists and require very little rehearsal time. I also have facility keyboard, guitar, and percussion. As a choral conductor I also have a wide network of other voice types and could arrange for a larger ensemble if desired, which may require more rehearsal time. Willing to travel any distance.

About

Lauded by The Boston Globe for his “sharp physicality and ringing tenor voice,” and highly regarded for his “indefatigable energy” and “expert interpretation” at the podium as well as the concert stage, Eric Christopher Perry is rising as one of the nation’s most dynamic vocal artists, conductors, and educators.

He is the artistic director and conductor of Renaissance Men, New England’s professional male vocal chamber ensemble, whose work spans a near decade worth of sold-out performances across the Eastern United States and multiple critically-acclaimed albums released on Navona Records and its own label, RenMen Records. A champion of new music for low voices, he has led RenMen through world premieres and commissions by globally renown composers as Daniel E. Gawthrop, Sydney Guillaume, Hilary Tann, Patricia Van Ness, Jay Mobley, Charles Stacy III, Andrew Clarkson, and Stuart Forster. In the 2022-23 season, he conducted Igor Stravinsky's rarely-performed burlesque opera "Renard" at Boston University in collaboration with RenMen, KAIROS Dance Theater and Sound Icon Sinfonietta; hailed by critics as "the coolest thing I have seen all year." RenMen is committed to community engagement as well, enjoying partnerships with Boston City Singers and Boston Children's Chorus, as well as collaborations with academic institutions and avocational choral ensembles across New England. Recent major media engagements includes a live performance on GBH Boston's "Boston Public Radio with Jim Braude and Margery Eagan" and WCRB's "A Holiday Celebration" livestream in 2022, which featured a collaboration with Metropolitan Opera tenor Lawrence Brownlee, viewed by hundreds of thousands worldwide.

Outside of RenMen, ecp is an experienced conductor of both standard and non-traditional choral orchestral repertoire for mixed voices; most notable recent performances include Arvo Pärt's "Berliner Messe," Francine Trester's "Walkers with the Dawn," Joseph Haydn's "Schöpfungsmesse," Abby Betinis's "Free, Fearless, and Female," Reinhard Keiser's "St. Mark Passion," and the North American premiere of Chistoph Graupner's "Ach, wo nun hin."

Recent vocal solo appearances: Handel and Haydn Society, Emmanuel Music, MIT Symphony Orchestra, Connecticut Early Music Festival, Cantata Singers, The Phoenix Symphony, South Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, Tennessee Wesleyan University Symphony Orchestra, Phoenix Bach Festival, Oregon Bach Festival, The Boston Camerata, Zenith Ensemble, Huntington Symphony Orchestra, Tallahassee Bach Parley, Music at First Presbyterian Charleston, WV. International engagements include concert tours in Japan, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Portugal, Iceland, Germany, and Australia. He is a frequent guest choral/vocal clinician across the United States and has served on music faculties at Colby College, Plymouth State University, Phillips Academy Andover, and Federation University Australia. He currently serves as Visiting Lecturer of Voice at Salem State University in Salem, Massachusetts.
