Emily Daly is a violinist who studies with Professor Mark Rush at The Lamont School of Music. Previously, she attended Grammy award winning Las Vegas Academy of the Performing Arts for four years. There, she worked with Karl Reinarz and Eric McAllister. Emily has had the chance of performing in the pits of various musicals, such as Guys and Dolls and Oklahoma.
Besides pit orchestra, she has played in symphony with full chorus in productions of Carmina Burana, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and others. Emily was accepted into both Honor and Allstate Orchestras all four years of high school. At those events, she was privileged enough to work with Jung Ho Pak twice, as well as other prominent conductors. Throughout the years, the groups covered a variety of pieces, such as Romeo and Juliet by Tchaikovsky, as well as Romeo and Juliet by Prokofiev. The groups also performed works by the likes of Brahms, Grieg, Shostakovich, and Bernstein. For solo works, Emily has played in masterclasses for a number of professors, one such being Quinton Morris, from Seattle University. Learning from many instructors has given her a broader spectrum in terms of different techniques to use while playing music.
Emily has performed with Frankie Moreno and his band at the Stratosphere in Las Vegas. For a short time, she performed with rising pop star Tommy Ward and his band, Swayd. In summer 2014, Emily toured Germany and Poland with the Las Vegas Youth Orchestra Philharmonic. The Philharmonic received a warm welcome from the Polish audience at their first venue in Lutosławski Concert Hall, Warsaw. Then, they toured Krakov, Leipzig, and Berlin—touring the cities during the daytime, and holding concerts at various venues during the evenings. She plans to attend The Eastman School of Music after she has earned her degree from the University of Denver. In her down time, you will catch Emily instructing lifeguard certification classes or going for a run.
