Elise did an amazing session on the cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean for us. She wove all our requests together, transitioning seamlessly. Her playing was flawless, and she presents herself in a very traditional, authentic style. In between song breaks, she shared funny stories and anecdotes, and even took impromptu requests from the audience at the end of the session. She is a a consummate professional. Elise is awesome!

What to expect
Please begin by telling Elise what kind of mood(s) you want her to create, when transitions will happen within your event, whether you'd like entertainment or background music, whether you prefer Scottish or Irish music (or something else), and any special tune requests. Elise's repertoire is large and diverse. If you want a song that is not normally played on bagpipes, she will tell you if it can be adapted to sound good on bagpipes, and let you know how quickly she can learn it. Also, thanks to Elise's extensive experience performing for all kinds of special events, she can provide expert advice to help the music of bagpipes integrate gracefully and usefully into your unique event.
If you would like solo fiddling or even a full 3-5 piece band, in addition to bagpipes, please let Elise know and she can give you a bid for the full package.
About
Elise’s musical family started teaching her piano and music theory at age 5. She played flute in her middle school’s marching band, and fell in love with folk music at Yosemite’s first Strawberry Music Festival. A whimsical decision to take up fiddling doomed her to misspend countless adult evenings learning hundreds of traditional Irish and Scottish tunes at Santa Cruz’s drop-in Celtic sessions. Her inspiration to learn bagpiping came from a lifetime of marching behind weekly Scottish parades in Kincardine, Canada. Whereas, her inspiration to launch a Celtic folk band came from seeing live performances by The Old Blind Dogs and Molly’s Revenge. Nowadays, Elise competes with the Silicon Valley Pipe Band, marches each summer with the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band, performs solo as a “Phantom Piper” for a historic lighthouse in Canada, gives bagpiping and fiddle concerts at Silver Mountain Winery in Santa Cruz, and performs all around the San Francisco Bay Area as a solo bagpiper for weddings, memorials, concerts, and private events.
Additional booking notes
Bagpipes generally do not require amplification, but Elise does own a PA, in case you need music for a really large space. If Elise cannot warm up and tune her pipes onsite without disturbing your event then she will tune offsite before arriving.
