Whether it's sophisticated swing, jazz and ballads for a cocktail set or romantic songs for walking down the aisle-or fun, vibey music to welcome guests; a choreographed featured show or theme-specific tunes (Like Marylin Monroe/Cher/Gatsby/Musicals-through-the-ages/Jazz-Greats tribute shows)-you feel safe in the capable and professional hands of Lara Thomas, who comes prepared to WOW her audiences time and time again.

Lara Thomas is an experienced Vocalist, who epitomizes professionalism, talent and musicality on stage. Her background of solid classical training, extensive tertiary contemporary training in music, singing and performance have stood her in good stead.
Lara completed a Musicianship and Management Higher National Diploma at the Allenby Campus (now Damelin) Contemporary Music School with 13 Distinctions and Top Vocal student award to ensure her career started on the right foot.
A mere 3 weeks after completing her studies in 2000 she began performing at Venues like Caesars palace, and within a month was whisked off to Dubai to perform at a Five Star Hotel for 8 months, performing 6 nights a week with a highly experienced band . This formed the beginning of some serious performing experience in bands, in shows and doing solo work-all around the country.
For ten years, Lara performed in numerous singing and dancing extravaganza shows at Carnival City, Emperor's Palace and Carousel Casino's where she has sang and danced her way into the hearts of many an audience.
These shows included “Sisters sentimental-the Andrew sisters tribute” “Let the Good times Roll”, “Lets Party”, “Hot in the City” ,“Decades” , “Decades” “Simply Irresistible” and “I Have a Dream-The Abba Tribute” where she worked alongside people like Tamara Day, Kreesan, Veronique Lalouette, Clayton Schlimper, Mike Todd, Emmanuel Castis, Mia, Duane Rockwell, Alison Pucci, Lee Rath and many more.

Other Corporate Shows along the way have included work with the following artists: Robin Walsch, Kreesan, Jennifer Jones, Joe Clark, Veronique Lalouette, Mia, Timothy Maloi, Duane Rockwell, Vange Coker, Christine Mantsua, Strini Pillay and performed at just about every venue around the country including “Sun City Superbowl”, “Sandton Convention Centre”, “The Michaelangelo”, “Sandton Sun”, “Summer place”, Carnival city, “Gold Reef City” and “Carousel” and many more for over 20 years now.

She has toured the country numerous occasions as part of a road shows performing industrial theatre, directing and managing the artists, assuming role of “emcee” and giving PowerPoint presentations on behalf of the company to management in Nedbank.
She has performed for the Prince of Jeddah numerous times, as well as managed and sourced artists to perform and co-ordinated and conceptualized the entertainment for him in the Seychelles on numerous tours.
She lectured vocal subjects for first and second year pupils at Damelin’s Contemporary Music College for over 14 Years. Her subjects of expertise included:
Stage Performance 1st & 2nd yr, Vocal Technique 1st & 2nd Yr; Vocal Physics, Improvisation 1st & 2nd Yr, Harmony 1st Year, Teachers Training 2nd Yr, One on One Coaching. Having coached for this amount of time, she is able to help Students find not only the technique needed to be a skilled and versatile vocalist, but also the performing skills from the years of experience and ‘currency’ of her career.
Lara has had several of her students reach the top 4 of Idols South Africa(Bokkie Ntsime and Daniel Buys), as well as coached several well-known artists in South Africa- just a confirmation of the outstanding level of work she has done as a lecturer and vocal coach.
No Matter the age group of an audience, Lara has explored these genres extensively in her 20 years of performing to a variety of audiences and can offer an adaptable range of songs to meet any occassions’ needs.
With so many years behind her, she is also able to tailor make shows for specific events. Able to source her own tracks, Lara will happily learn any songs requested or required as well. Whether it’s an elegant Awards gala event, Sophisticated Cheese & Wine, Casual barbeque function, Birthday bash, Wedding, or fund-raiser-live entertainment always adds that something special to make it more memorable!
Lara immigrated to Canada 6 years ago, enjoying the feel of a very different industry in another country.
