Elaina has a repertoire of several hundred popular songs, as well as a speciality in Brazilian bossa novas. She can accept requests during the show as well as ahead of time.
Elaina was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and adopted as an infant by a wonderful family just outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She grew up on a musical diet of Madonna and Michael Jackson among other 1980s pop icons. She began to get involved in musical theatre as an actor and pianist in high school, and attending Ithaca College for a double major in Music and Drama, she was fortunate to study with amazing faculty and students in the realm of piano and musical theatre.
In the years after college, Elaina worked mainly in musical theatre and music director, accompanist, vocal coach, audition accompanist, conductor, composer, and arranger based out of New York City. She spent some time on the road with various Broadway touring companies and spent summers music directing and playing piano for summer stocks. She began to discover more bossa novas and sambas from her homeland of Brazil. Some of her favorite first Brazilian music artists included Bebel Gilberto, Caetano Veloso, Celso Fonseca, Elis Regina, Joao Gilberto, Astrud Gilberto, and Joyce. When she wasn’t playing musicals, she was spending time studying and performing Brazilian tunes.
In 2009, Elaina switched gears when she relocated to Chicago and began working as a dueling piano performer for Howl at the Moon. She also completed a Masters and Certification program for Music Education at VanderCook College of Music in Chicago. Elaina then became the entertainment director at Howl at the Moon Louisville for a year, entertainer and briefly director at Howl at the Moon Indianapolis, and has now settled in Philadelphia where she continues to work as an entertainer at Howl Philly.
