June 9, 2026The Best Live Music We’ve Ever Had at an Event!
Jack Dunlap and his Bluegrass Band were absolutely incredible! They performed at my nephew’s graduation party and completely exceeded every expectation. From the moment they started playing, they brought an energy and level of talent that had everyone captivated.
The music was outstanding, the vocals were amazing, and the entire band performed with such professionalism and passion. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how talented they were. At times, it felt like we were attending a live concert rather than a private event!
They helped create an unforgettable celebration, and everyone had an absolute blast. If you’re looking for a band that will wow your guests and make your event truly special, I highly recommend Jack Dunlap and his Bluegrass Band. Thank you for helping make such an important day so memorable!

May 30, 2024Tuned into the event, flexible, very easy to work with
We hired Dunlap & Mabe as a trio to play uplifting music at the outdoor get-together after my mother’s funeral, which might not be the easiest kind of gig to play. They were perfect: clearly talented and versatile musicians who were respectful, on time, responded easily to the cues we’d loosely arranged for when to start and the first songs to play, and they chose a great set to match the mood we wanted to create. When a storm came up quickly, they seamlessly moved inside, set up and started playing again, so we barely missed a beat. I am very pleased they were part of my mother’s send-off, and I’d hire them again for any event.

November 9, 2023Great Performance for Our Veteran's Day Event
We hired Dunlap & Mabe for a Veteran's Day Social at a senior center. They were reasonably priced, easy to communicate with, arrived early, and most importantly gave our group a wonderful show. We would definitely have them back for another event and happily recommend their musical talents.

October 26, 2022Bringing the south to NY!
We had our annual fall fest this past weekend in Nunda NY and most people were amazed because they’d never heard bluegrass. The band delivered beyond our expectations! They added the southern flare that we needed for our event. Thanks again, guys!

About
“Jack Dunlap, one of the fastest guns on mandolin (and guitar) in the greater Washington, D.C. area…”
-Bluegrass Unlimited
A skilled mandolin and guitar player, Jack is well-known nationwide, currently holding the guitar spot with Grammy-nominated and IBMA-awarded bluegrass band Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen. Though his roots are in bluegrass, he’s an artist with wide-ranging influences, including jazz, swing, blues, rock, country, and even Eastern Indian folk. As a Virginia Folklife Program apprentice, he trained under mandolin legend Danny Knicely, with whom he recorded Chop, Shred & Split - A Mandolin Player’s Apprenticeship, an album awarded Best Bluegrass Album of the Year by the Washington Area Music Awards.
Recently, Jack led the acclaimed group Dunlap and Mabe, where he shone as a lead vocalist and guitarist, charting multiple times on Bluegrass Today’s “Grassicana” chart. Whether performing solo or with a band, Jack tailors his sound for each event: classical pieces for a ceremony, jazz for dinner, and high-energy funk to get guests dancing.
Jack’s impressive resume includes performances at iconic venues like The Kennedy Center and the Lied Center, along with major events like the Kingman Island Bluegrass & Folk Festival and the Apple Blossom Festival. His captivating stage presence, rich vocals, and masterful instrumentals ensure an unforgettable experience, making him a standout choice for any celebration.
