What to Expect
Onstage, as a drummer, I'm conscious of the importance of maintaining a balance between showmanship and musicianship, projecting a "larger than life" stage presentation without compromising feel, dynamics, timing or meter. I've been performing for a very long time, and thus never forget that I'm there to do my job, being the best team player I can be, onstage and off. I don't get "caught up in the moment". I remain hyperfocused on executing the functions of my position to the best of my ability. I can enjoy special moments of the performance later on from memory.
As a drummer who also sings, I've been a member of numerous groups that placed a heavy emphasis on multipart vocal harmonies. I'm a tenor with a strong full three-octave range [think Mickey Thomas/Steve Perry/Dennis DeYoung/Ann Wilson]. If I wasn't the lead vocalist, I was almost certainly the 2nd vocalist and an integral element in 3, 4, even 5-part harmonies. I studied under vocal coach, Ron Anderson, in the 90s. A lifetime commitment to a substance-free existence figures prominently in the longevity of my ability to execute at a high level of proficiency.
Offstage, I am the textbook definitions of humility and professionalism. I make it a priority to treat EVERYONE with respect, dignity, kindness and consideration. The larger the production, the smaller my role. It is the combined efforts of every member of the team that will ensure a successful outcome.
Former Dokken drummer/backing harmony vocal [Euro Tour '80], Original Great White drummer/backing harmony vocal [Euro Tour '84 ISO Whitesnake, N.A. Tour '84 ISO Judas Priest], Blue Cheer drummer [Euro Tour '93 headliner], Ozzy Osbourne/Ozzmosis [backing harmony vocal], Ozzy Osbourne/Prince of Darkness [backing harmony vocal], Twisted Sister/Come Out And Play [backing harmony vocal], Don Dokken/Up From The Ashes [backing harmony vocal].
Dueling Pianos drummer/lead and backing vocals.
Two Black Sabbath tribute bands, MN & CA [Drums]. Judas Priest tribute [Drums], AZ.
As a drummer, I have a working knowledge of hundreds, perhaps thousands, of songs. Hard rock, light rock, funk, blues, metal, pop, R&B, contemporary country, marching, etc. If it was ever popular in western culture, I've probably played it.
Specifics will be determined by the event or situation.
