Dr. Oscar Sueing is "Dr. Feel Good"
Overview
I play and sing easy listening, smooth jazz, blues and gospel that stirs the spirit as it reminds one of the good things in this life. I have been playing since I was 13 and have had the opportunity to play with small bands in the Memphis Area andin Nashville and on the "Bobby Jones Show" TV in Nashville. I have performed next to Kirk Whalum and others here in (link hidden)r the last eight years I have been performing in most of the senior citizens facility through out the Memphis area, and nothing excites me more than when I see senior struggle from their wheel chair to their feet to engage in a dance move or two. I also get excited when I hear them singing the lyrics as I play.

October 16, 2026Book Oscar for all your entertainment needs!!
It is a pleasure to write this letter of reference for Oscar Sueing, an exceptional entertainer who has brought joy to our senior living facility for over 10 years. Throughout our long-standing professional relationship, Oscar has proven to be an invaluable asset to our community. He is consistently punctual, professional, and fully prepared to engage our residents from the moment he arrives.
Oscar’s performances offer far more than simple entertainment. His music provides profound therapeutic benefits for our residents, particularly those living with dementia and cognitive decline.
Over the past decade, I have witnessed firsthand how his entertainment transforms our community by:
• Evoking Deep Memories: Music has a unique ability to bypass damaged areas of the brain. Oscar’s carefully chosen repertoire taps into our residents' long-term memories, frequently unlocking familiar emotions, stories, and words that they otherwise struggle to access.
• Reducing Anxiety and Agitation: We frequently observe a visible decrease in stress, restlessness, and sun-downing behaviors during and after his visits. His engaging presence and soothing musical rhythms provide a calming, comforting environment.
• Encouraging Social Connection: Oscar’s interactive style fosters a strong sense of community. Residents who are normally withdrawn begin to smile, clap, tap their feet, and sing along, sparking meaningful social engagement and shared joy.
• Enhancing Mood and Mental Well-being: The emotional lift our residents experience lasts long after the final note is played. His performances genuinely improve their overall quality of life, boosting attentiveness and bringing a bright energy to the entire room.
Oscar is an incredibly reliable, compassionate, and talented professional who truly understands how to connect with seniors. I recommend him with the highest praise for any entertainment or therapeutic music engagement.
Sincerely,
Gena G.

About
Dr. Oscar is Dr. Feelgood Born and bred in the musically-rich city of Memphis, Tennessee, Oscar Sueing is authentically musical and music has ministered to him all his life. He was immersed in music from the very beginning, born into a family of parents and siblings of singers and musicians. Oscar began studying and playing saxophones at age 13. Growing up in Memphis in the 60’s like other musically rambunctious teenagers, he played in his high school marching band (George Washington Carver High School) daily while at night he gigged in clubs playing R&B, Jazz and Blues in various local bands. That’s how you build your chops…or repertoire if you prefer. Although he, his brother and sister would perform at venues spanning the gamut from clubs to churches to opera houses and theatre stages, each pursuing music in their own individual ways, that would not be at the expense of education. For Oscar, it was off to Tennessee State University in Nashville. While there, he performed on the renowned Bobby Jones Gospel Show and with other artists. After graduation he returned to Memphis to work at the legendary Stax Records. During a successful business career, he was called to preach the Gospel while a member of the Mississippi Blvd. Christian Church and an essential part of the church’s choir and music ministry. His education continued and he received a master’s degree and a PHD from Memphis Theological Seminary. His music continued too, playing gigs with Kirk Whalum and other notable jazz artists. Dr. Oscar is a trained and ordained counselor and a superior communicator too. So, while Dr. Oscar’s music is indeed entertaining, it’s yet much more. His music is inspiring and happy. Ever hear of endorphins? Endorphins are hormones in your brain that when released make you feel good. Music makes endorphins flow. Dr. Oscar’s soulful musical mix of R&B, Gospel and Jazz, makes endorphins flood. For your next entertainment event, watch happy happen when you book Dr. Feelgood…also known as Dr. Oscar Sueing. Everybody will be happy you did.

Influences and inspiration
The influencers that have affected my life professionally goes from Charlie Parker and Canonball Aderly to Kirk Whalum, Grover Washington, Boney James.....The saxphone, in my opinion, is closest instrument communicating the sound and feel to the human voice. Somehow it transends just the notes but communicates with the soul. This is applicable in all genres. When the sax and the voice are present in the performance, the two become one.
Setup requirements
I bring all the equipment necessay. All I need is access to electricity.
