About
Drawing on his deep experience as an Actor, Writer, Historian and Inventor, Dr Liam Alex Heffron is an inspiring and motivating speaker and coach, who has worked with state agencies, creatives, non-profits, entrepreneurs and corporations. His work as an A.I. Expert Contributor in History and Acting Performance, alongside developing digital heritage tools, places him at the forefront of the new models of storytelling which are revolutionising how we understand our place in our shared human story.
Following his first class honours M.A. at the University of Galway, Liam Alex was awarded a history Ph.D. for his pioneering research on the social causes of the local Irish War of Independence and Irish Civil War. He has part-published his work in the books No Revolution: Igniting War in North Mayo, (phone number hidden)3 and Spirit of Revolution, Ireland from below, 1917–1923.
Dr Heffron was one of the invited experts who spoke to the European Union Parliamentary Committee on Regional Development (REGI) on 9 April 2025, regarding ‘Depopulation Challenges in European Regions’. His research on building participatory democracy and self-sustaining communities, to mitigate or prevent indigenous cultural loss from current demographic changes, was warmly welcomed by the committee members.
Liam Alex has also provided content authenticity services for TV and film productions including the BBC’s Who do you think you are? and RTE’s The Battle for Rural Ireland’. As a founder of St Cormac’s (Heritage) Society, he has led efforts for the protection and promotion of local heritage in his native west of Ireland.
Aside from his academic interests, Dr Heffron is an experienced and trained actor, who recently experienced life imitating art, when playing the skeptical historian, Finbarr, in the award-winning movie Prospect House (2023) - his acting portfolio is more fully explored here. He also pens a weekly column in the Western People newspaper, repeated in his Substack blog, ‘Hollywood and Heffron’.

• HDMI or USB connection to my laptop or a provided USB stick.
• Clicker/remote for slide advancement.
3. Staging
• Clear speaking area at the front of the room (minimum 6ft x 8ft).
• Lectern optional — I prefer to move and engage with the audience.
4. Lighting
• Even front lighting so the audience can see facial expressions
• Avoid strong backlighting from windows if possible.
5. Seating
• Audience arranged to allow direct sightlines to the speaking area.
• Avoid large gaps between first row and stage.
6. Miscellaneous
• Access to the room 30 minutes before start time for tech checks.
• A bottle of still water at the lectern or speaking area.
