I provide live music for weddings, corporate and private events, and more.

I perform solo guitar as well as duos, trios, quartets, and other ensembles.

My repertoire includes classical, Latin, jazz, pop, rock, Spanish, Balkan, Broadway, flamenco, and many other types of music. I can provide elegant background music, a featured musical moment, ceremony music, or take custom song requests.

I am an internationally touring concert guitarist from Europe with 500+ concerts on 5 continents, 113 music awards, and 6 university degrees in guitar performance. I hold doctoral-level credentials from USC and the Royal Academy of Music in London, and I am the principal guitar professor at UCLA.

Price range: $300/hr for background music, minimum order $400.

Insurance: $2,000,000 - All my quotes include Certificates of Insurance (COIs). Special endorsements, such as waiver of subrogation, may incur an additional fee.

What to expect

You can book me for elegant solo guitar, featured musical moments, ceremony music, cocktail-hour music, dinner music, private concerts, or ensemble performances such as duos, trios, quartets, and beyond.

My performances can be intimate and atmospheric, or more energetic and attention-grabbing depending on the event. I specialize in classical guitar, Spanish guitar, Latin, jazz, pop, rock, Balkan, Broadway, flamenco, crossover, and world music. I have about 6 hours of active repertoire ready to perform, and I’m also happy to learn special requests for weddings, proposals, birthdays, corporate events, and private celebrations.

For clients who want a fuller sound without hiring multiple musicians, I can also perform live guitar with custom backing tracks. This can create the feel of a larger ensemble, band, or orchestral texture while keeping the setup simple and cost-effective.

I regularly perform for weddings, cocktail hours, receptions, corporate events, birthday parties, dinners, celebrations of life, proposals, and private concerts. For corporate events, I have performed for clients including BMW, Deutsche Bank, MGM Studios, Audi, Lloyds Bank, and others.

At a wedding or private event, you can use my music in many ways: processional and ceremony music, background music during cocktail hour or dinner, romantic music for a proposal, upbeat music for a celebration, or a short featured performance after a toast or special announcement. My goal is always to match the music to the room and make the event feel more personal and memorable.

About

Dr. Gogoncea is an LA-based musician. With 113 music awards, he is considered one of the world's most acclaimed guitarists. He has performed over 500 concerts on 5 continents. He is also the principal guitar professor at UCLA.

In 2022, he made his debut as a composer with a show he wrote for guitar, live electronics and audience interaction. Through this innovative format, he breaks down barriers between performers and listeners, encouraging audiences to engage more deeply.

In 2018, he organized the first classical guitar masterclass and workshop in Lagos, Nigeria. Fundraising consisted of a 7-concert tour of India. The documentary about his journey inspired luthiers to donate professional instruments to the young musicians.

Prior to UCLA, he was Head of Content at tonebase, the world's leading institution for online music education. There, he oversaw strategy, artist bookings, video production and postproduction, while managing a team of videographers, editors, and engravers. Previously, he co-created and hosted tonebase Live.

He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in guitar performance from USC, and 5 other performance degrees. He graduated with honors from the Advanced Diploma program of the Royal Academy of Music in London and the excellence program Konzertexamen of the Schumann University in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Equipment:

As a solo guitarist, I am incredibly versatile and can play in almost any setting of your choice. I have my own PA kit that does not require access to power for the first ~3 hours of a show.

The only thing I do require is a basic chair with no armrests, and a place to safely store my belongings while I perform.

I studied with the world's most prestigious nylon-string guitarists, including:

1) Pepe Romero: member of Los Romeros, the "Royal Family of the Guitar", knighted by the King of Spain.
2) Scott Tennant: GRAMMY-award winner, writer of "Pumping Nylon", the world's most popular guitar technique book.
3) David Russell: One of the world's most well-known solo guitarists.
4) Joaquin Clerch: One of the world's most well-known solo guitarists.

Through my studies with Joaquin Clerch, I can trace my guitar lineage straight to Andres Segovia, the most renowned classical guitarist who has ever lived (A. Segovia -> E. Fisk -> J. Clerch -> me).
