Dr. Congcong Bi was born in Shandong, China, and embarked on her musical journey at a young age, gaining admission to Xinghai Conservatory at 13. Her exceptional talent and unwavering dedication continued to shine when, at age 17, she earned a coveted spot at the ArtEz Conservatory in the Netherlands with the highest scholarship.
In 2020, Dr. Bi represented Mississippi State in the division-level of the MTNA competition, showcasing her prowess as a musician. In 2018, while pursuing her master's degree at Lee University, she achieved victory in the Lee University concerto competition, a testament to her outstanding cello performance skills.
Dr. Bi's passion extends beyond performance; she remains actively engaged in the academic realm. Currently, she teaches at the University of North Georgia and Gwinnett Technical College, her research project has been accepted for presentation at the 12th Symposium of the International Study Group on Music Archaeology in Würzburg, Germany. In 2019, her proposal titled “Mechanisms of Live Performance Engagement to Improve Health Outcomes of Advanced Cancer Patients” was chosen for the Susan A. Siltanen Graduate Student Research Symposium. Her commitment to scholarly pursuits has also led to a publication in the International Journal of Computer Mathematics.
Dr. Bi received her Doctor of Musical Arts in cello performance and cello pedagogy from the University of Southern Mississippi. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from ArtEz Conservatorium (Zwolle, Netherlands) and a Master’s degree from Lee University (TN).
