What to expect

I am an inspirational speaker and teacher. I love to bring deep understanding with practical tools that allow people to grow even after they walk away.

I prefer to tailor my talks to the needs of each client, and even though I have focus, I have been teaching and training in leadership my whole life.

My goal is to give every client an inspirational presentation that leads to real change.

If desired, I am available to do individual and team coaching over a period of time, addressing various needs as we work together to help you become the best you can be and create an environment that people want to work in.

About

I have spent the last 30 years leading in churches and the last 20 training in the Martial Arts. Now, I am bringing all my leadership and teaching skills to the marketplace to help others learn the power of Servant Leadership. Build your team and grow your productivity through powerful, interactive learning.

My Submission Story

"It was 1998 and I had been assigned to a “Christian Counselor”. I had gone, because my church
had made me. The fact is, I was 28 years old and had been in ministry for 12 years in one form
or another. I didn’t need counseling.
I wasn’t doctrinally disturbed or caught in some great moral crisis . . . or so I thought.
Gene Ziglar told me on our first visit that in his mind “Christian Counseling” was truly just
discipleship, one form of training, one way to grow in Christ through intense one on one
coaching.
“Ok,” I thought, “I don’t mind learning, but the reason I am here is that the people I am supposed
to be leading keep treating me like I don’t know what I’m doing. If people would just follow my
lead instead of fighting me at every turn, we wouldn’t have a problem!” The struggle between
me and some of the volunteer leaders came to a head at camp, when one woman got angry
because I spent a morning in bed, dealing with the pain of a tooth that was pulled the weekend
before. I had decided to trust sponsors she thought were too young to be trusted. I told her,
passionately, that wasn’t her decision. I was right . . . right?
Still, I did seem to be fighting up hill, even after a long period of time. No matter how much
success I had leading students into a deeper life with Christ, many of those around me just
didn't seem to be able to get along with me. “I was just a strong leader,” I told myself. I also told
my boss, Gene, and anyone else who brought it up.
After 7 months of Gene showing me again and again that I was the problem, even criticizing my
choice of dress, I’d had enough “counseling.” I went to my boss and told him, I was done. He
told me that if I was done with Gene I was done with my job at that church.
I couldn’t understand, he had been on my side. I had a new wife, my salary was pennies for
what I was worth, and now he was actually pinning me in a corner. As I sat in his office, I
considered my options, they weren’t many. I needed this job. I wanted to be in the ministry.
Maybe I could suffer through. I decided to go back.
I had no idea how that one choice to submit to my leader would change the rest of my life. That
choice and much learning and choosing since have led to this short volume.
After two more soul crushing weeks, I was driving to my appointment walking through the verse
of scripture Gene was making me memorize. It was the words of Samuel to Saul, the first King
of Israel. “Obedience is better than sacrifice, and rebellion is just as the sin of divination.” (1
Samuel 15:23a NASB)
My study was teaching me that the Bible says “rebellion” is the opposite of submission. It is the
choice to take the place of God and seek to rule all circumstance, people, and plans by your
own agenda. It is refusing to let others agendas, or even God’s, supersede your own.
“Divination” is the same as “devil worship,” and prosqueneo, the main Greek word the Bible
uses for worship, means “to kiss towards.”
Suddenly all the tumblers fell into place and my heart came open, the light of Holy Spirit
revelation shone down into my soul. I recognized that every time I chose to make my agenda more important than the people I was leading, every time I tried to fight for “my way,” every time
I used God’s word to prove my case, I was choosing rebellion. I was blowing kisses at the devil!
My unlocked heart shattered into a billion pieces, and I had nothing left.
As I continued to my appointment, I cried so hard I almost couldn’t see. When arrived at Gene’s
he invited me in and I cried on his floor until our hour was almost up. All those years of leading “
for God,” I was really seeking my own agenda and glorifying the king of liars.
After two more months of learning with Gene, and some key breakthroughs I realized, Gene had
never really been attacking me. Every issue we discussed he would take me to scripture, and as
we read the Word of God the Holy Spirit brought conviction. Finally, we finished, not because I
said so, but because Gene did.
From that time on I have been on a journey to understand the depth of the power of submission.
My journey has led me to three conclusions about submission. Submission is:
1. The choice to love
2. The freedom to live
3. The power to lead
As we journey together through these thoughts, I hope you will listen to your heart and be
honest with yourself. While you probably submit in some places, I’m guessing there are also
areas in which you struggle. I hope the following stories and thoughts will help you to see the power submission has to heal relationships, lift the weight of the world, and give you influence you might never have noticed before.
In the end, the choice is yours."

I have been married to my wife, Ann, for 20 years. We have 4 beautiful daughters. We have spent our lives serving and watching others grow in the church. Now we want to help more people find the power of serving.
