Dorian Dietrich | Singing Burlesque

Dorian Dietrich is a tantalizing force both on stage and behind it, creating deliciously decadent experiences for audiences seeking more than glitz and glam. Although they are a product of sunny California, their aesthetic is evocative of the smoky cabarets of Weimar-era Berlin: a playground in which anything goes, whether it be silly, smoldering, gender bending, or eccentric and enchanting. They are known for their captivating presence, as well as their sultry brand of singing striptease.

Dorian is a stunning ecdysiast who finds pleasure in savoring the slow burn. Whether they are portraying historical figures such as Jeanne d'Arc or Oscar Wilde, bringing the movies to life as the Maschinenmensch, or sauntering across the stage in an Erte-inspired robe, their larger-than-life performances transport audiences to the seductive and indulgent Zwanziger Jahre.

As an emcee, this powerhouse talent translates to a homey sensuality, often producing off-the-cuff comments that leave audiences hanging on for more. Dorian’s first love is the voice, rooted in classical technique but raring for something more. Their performances of lieder, show tunes, and cabaret tunes are often haunting and brimming with raw emotion.

In 2019, they debuted Wunderkammer Kabarett, a series of variety shows highlighting the dark, peculiar, and bizarre side of live entertainment. Along with Joanna Animal and Cha Cha, Dorian helps curate Smoke & Mirrors Menagerie, a truly exquisite variety show experience featuring circus, aerials, and burlesque. In 2022, they introduced a new show, Silhouette — the only one of its kind in Redwood City, CA — at The Hub RWC.

A regular feature with San Francisco’s Hubba Hubba Revue and shows across the Bay Area, Dorian has sung and stripped their way across the United States and Europe. Past appearances include festivals and shows in Canada, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, and Panama, as well as Cleveland, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Portland, Seattle, and Tucson.
