Guitarist Don Sanni performs a wide range of solo, instrumental guitar music especially suited to create an intimate, relaxed atmosphere for wedding ceremonies, receptions, restaurants, parties, and concert settings. Mr. Sanni's repertoire starts with classical guitar music, but performed on a steel string guitar for a slight twist. Don also performs arrangements of pop tunes by the Beatles, James Taylor, and Queen, among many others. One unique style of guitar that Don also performs is Celtic music, which was made popular through shows such as Riverdance, Braveheart and The Titanic. Check Don's song list and you'll find an extremely varied collection of music, a little of everything.
Do not hesitate to hire this very professional and talented musician. Don was helpful from the first phone call through the day of our ceremony. So much so that when the 100° weather unexpectedly moved our outdoor cocktail hour to inside, he made the transition seamlessly. His guitar playing was sweetness to my ears. If the need arises again, Don will be my first choice. Thank you, Don, for contributing to the beauty of our special wedding day. It's too soon for pictures yet.
Don was wonderful. He was prepared and arrived early. He was great with communicating with me and making sure he had all the right details. He is extremely talented and I would recommend him to anyone
Don made our event special by sharing his talents with us. Our group thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated Don and his music. The care and preparation was obvious and greatly appreciated.
Don showed up early, as we saw him getting set up during our first look photos. You can tell Don holds high standards for himself and he has for a while. His playing is extremely refined, and he takes guitar tones very seriously. We received some nice compliments from our guests on his guitar playing. Lastly, we found each other after the ceremony and he wanted to make sure we were happy with his performance. We certainly were. Very professional!
Beautiful music,Don is a talented guitarist. Everyone complimented us on Don's performance. Very professional.
Don helped us through a very difficult time by playing at our sons memorial service. He was thoughtful, kind and professional and played flawlessly. He was set up by the time we arrived and coordinated with our pastor.
Response from Don Sanni:
Hi Glenn, thanks for the great review on Gigsalad, I'm so glad you were happy with my services.
Thank You Don playing such beautiful music at my ceremony and cocktail hour!! My husband said the music sounded great! Everything ran on time, and it helped us give our guests the experience we wanted them to have!
You were so patient with me through email and song selection and so easy going when it came time to play on a rainy day!! Everything you did was very much appreciated!!
Thank you again!
Don was the guitarist at my daughter's wedding ceremony/cocktail hour. He was courteous and professional. Our guests enjoyed his music and I would recommend him with enthusiasm.
Don was a wonderful presence at our event and made the presentation about composition clear and personable. His playing was relaxing and vivid. I only wish I had asked him to play more!
I knew Don was going to be great based on the extensive and detail oriented communications we had before the wedding. But the way he was able to adjust to some last minute changes, read our "crowd" of guests and adjust his playlist perfectly to our delight was magnificent. Another thing I noticed is that he seemed to understand the stress we were under prior to the event, and communicated in a way that reassured us, while still getting the right info back and forth. Oh, and even though I didn't think there was a need for sound system, he brought one anyway and set up just the right equipment to reach the right volume levels for each setting (ceremony and reception). A very skilled player, but also a great gentleman and a pleasure to work with. Good with Classical and also light pop/rock --Highly recommended solo guitarist!
Don was so easy to work with and flexible. We had a beautiful wedding on an orchard in some extreme heat- Don was professional, kind and made the ceremony so special with his beautiful music. Don came early, stayed late and brought extra equipment to meet our needs. I can't be more pleased with his work! Thank you Don!
We were looking for a classical guitarist for our daughter's wedding. Daughter had asked us to handle this part. We read about Don Sanni. People said he was easy to work with. We met him and went over our ideas with him. Don quickly got the feeling for the kind of ceremony we had in mind. As soon as he started playing sample pieces, we had a good idea he would be perfect. We wanted to start with classical pieces and then transition into more contemporary. Don's suggestions were perfect. So we worked out the whole musical program in a fairly short time. Don stayed in touch with us during the weeks before the wedding and we ironed out the details. He arrived at the wedding location (duaghter's house) nice and early so we could make sure of the electrical setup, acoustics, and other details. Don has a lot of experience with weddings, so he made some good suggestions as far as how to coordinate music and ceremony. Don's guitar playing is excellent. He used a steel string acoustic guitar with amplifier & speakers which sounded great for the classical and contemporary pieces. Don played before and during the ceremony, and afterwards for the cocktail hour. Don is such a pleasant guy to work with, we asked him to share some refreshments after he finished playing. Lots of people came up and spoke with him and everyone complemented us on the music afterwards. We give him our highest recommendation!
I hired Don for a surprise 50th birthday party for my wife. We had both friends and family for a house party of 40-50 people. Don was terrific in several ways. He was very professional in setting up our arrangements. He was very timely and accommodating in his arrival time making sure he was completely set up and ready to go for what was a surprise party. In addition he was very fair and flexible to accommodate us when we asked him to play beyond the time we originally expected to end (as a side note - we asked him to play longer than we originally booked him for because his music was well played, well received, and added a lot to the atmosphere of the party). Don played both as the main entertainment for a period during the evening, and also in the back ground for much of the night. He played both roles well. The best testimony I could give him is that we would hire him again without reservation.
What to Expect
A typical wedding performance might consist of classical guitar music for the ceremony, and pop music for the cocktail hour. In addition to these styles I can also blend in more contemporary guitar music along with traditionals, Celtic, blues, New Age, ragtime, jazz, or even a TV theme, making for a varied set, you won't hear one style all night long. I also enjoy working with wedding couples to select special music for the processional, often meeting with them over the phone, or in person.
Don Sanni is a graduate of The New England Conservatory, with a degree in guitar performance. He has been a full time guitar teacher since 1983, and has played hundreds of shows throughout the Northeast in club bands such as Baker Street, Jet City, Shockwave, and Standing Man. He was the winner of an international guitar competition in 1990, which led to a sponsorship with the Kramer guitar company. Don's playing and composing have been praised in "Guitar" magazine, and he has written lessons for the Mel Bay Publication website, the largest publisher of guitar music in the world. He authored an instructional guitar DVD entitled "Guitar Reality" which was very favorably reviewed in music trade magazines. Currently he performs solo, fingerstyle guitar, traveling throughout New England, New York, and Canada, and is one of the most sought after guitarists for weddings, corporate, and private events. When not performing, Don teaches guitar full-time with upwards of 50 students per week.
Don released a CD of original guitar instrumentals in 2010 entitled "New England Soundscapes." An audio clip is presented here, as well as many more on his website, (link hidden).
Additional Booking Notes
For weddings in which the ceremony and reception are in different locations I like to use two seperate sound systems. I set up each one before the wedding so I can make a quick transition from ceremony to reception. This way I'm playing music during the cocktail hour, not wasting 20 minutes moving equipment around. I can also supply a microphone for the wedding officiant if need be. Generally I always bring two of everything to a performance for back up, just in case of equipment failure.

This is just a small sample of client reviews, you can read A LOT more on my website:
We could not have been happier! Don worked with our daughter to choose music they both thought appropriate for her wedding in a small quaint VT church. He even took the time to learn a particular song she wanted. Since Don also played during cocktail hour before the reception, he took time to set up at the reception location prior to the church ceremony and they were 30 mins apart. We would highly recommend Don to anyone. Regards, Cathy Eckel
Don was very pleasant and easy to work with. He even invited us to his house to discuss the musical arrangement for our ceremony. He knew exactly what to play once we let him know our preferences. He showed up at the wedding place on time (very early actually) to make sure everything was going to be set up properly. We had our ceremony outside, and our cocktail hour inside, so he wanted to make sure both his PA systems were setup and ready in both locations. Being a musician myself, I felt Don's guitar playing was outstanding and professional. Everyone at our wedding commented on his performance. I recommend Don for any acoustic needs, formal or informal. Thx Don!
Don was wonderful! I had a special request to walk down the aisle to "What a Wonderful World" with my father. He was more than happy to learn it for me! He was very professional and always available to answer questions for me. I would highly recommend Don to anyone I know getting married!
-Jill W, 7/5/2008, Wedding, Princeton, MA
Couldn't be better. Don was very accomodating when we were selecting musicians, after we hired him, and on out wedding day. Not only did Don take the time to play some songs over the phone, he invited up to his home to hear his music on person. On the day Don arrived early, and played beautifully. If you're looking for classical guitar, you really don't need to look any further.
--David L., Newport, RI, 8/10/2008
Don was nothing short of an amazing asset on our wedding day! He played beautiful, perfect music for our wedding ceremony. He was very thorough and attentive during the planning process, and even learned a new tune for me! Our ceremony went perfectly and I'm sure it will be very memorable thanks to Don's contribution. Thank you so much, Don!
--Glencora M., Rindge, NH, 9/14/2008
We hired Don to play our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. The entire experience with Don, from initial contact to song selection to the big day was a complete pleasure. Don's professionalism is second to none and he is a master of his craft. His musical talent gave our ceremony and cocktail hour such a beautiful, peaceful feeling that put all the guests and even us at ease! If you're looking for a skilled guitarist who knows a dynamic range of styles, is courteous, punctual and all around professional, we highly recommend Don Sanni. Thank you again for everything Don! Mark & Corinne Rowe, New Hampshire
We were very fortunate to find Don for our wedding ceremony. We had exactly 2 weeks to throw everything together and thought we would have to compromise on a quality musician to accomodate our request. Not true! Don was prompt in his reply and was very professional in his repore but most importantly is a very good musician. We wanted someone who could play classical and contemporary music, it was alot to ask of a musician, but he did both beautifully. We also dumped the burden of song choice on his lap and not only were we very satisfied with his choice of songs but we were very satisfied with his musicianship. In addition, his performance was tireless- he continued to play for the entire three hour period with only a couple of very short breaks. Our wedding DVD confirms the wonderful ambiance Don's performance added to the occasion. Thanks Don for being part of our special day! Encore! ENCORE!
Don is extraordinary. We LOVE him! he was sweet and accommodating and ridiculously talented. Don was a critical component in making my wedding day a dream come true. Thank you!!
Don was amazing! I wanted a specific song for my bridal procession and he took the time to learn it perfectly. He was very professional at the wedding, but perhaps more importantly he was always very prompt and helpful in all our communications prior to the event. That was definitely helpful to a nervous bride :). His song selections during the cocktail hour were wonderful, and many guests complimented his talent. I would recommend him to anyone for any type of event!
We can’t say enough about how happy we were with Don at our wedding! We booked him based on the reviews on Gigmasters and the music on his site, and we couldn’t be happier with the result. He was the consummate professional from start to finish.
Don was always prompt with answers to our questions, while providing fresh ideas and great communication in general leading up to our big day. When the day arrived, Don was there early, even though it was a 2-hour drive for him. We did all of our own planning, and while we were running around taking care of last-minute preparations and worrying whether everything was ready, Don was a calming friend. He was set-up in two locations and dressed in his suit even before the groom was dressed! Put simply, Don removed the stress from the music portion of our day and while other aspects of the afternoon needed our attention, he required no assistance whatsoever.
In addition to his professionalism, Don is also a great musician. He played our ceremony and the cocktail hour, and our guests are still telling us how much they enjoyed the music. It was absolutely perfect.
Last but not least, Don is a really nice guy. Even though we met for the first time just a few hours before our wedding, Don seemed to genuinely care about us. Rather than just show up to play music, he took a sincere interest in our day. When dinner was over and he was getting ready to head home, we felt like we were saying goodbye to one of our guests and were sad that he had to leave!
Bottom line -- Don is a complete professional, fantastic musician, and kind person who was an integral part of making our day so special. We enthusiastically and without hesitation recommend him to anyone considering his services.
Thank you, Don!

Don was fantastic! He was very professional and easy to work with. He accomodated all our requests and even learned a song for us. Many of our wedding guests commented on how beautiful the music was. Don's rendition of Vivaldi's Guitar Concerto, Bach's Jesu Joy, and Handel's Air from Water Music brought tears to many people's eyes (including ours!). We highly recommend Don for anyone who wants gorgeous classical music to accompany their special day. Don, thank you so much!!!!!!
