DJ MJ

Professionalism, presentation and performance are paramount to my business as a DJ. Whether you're hiring me for an elegant open-air dream wedding, a packed and sweaty club performance, or a corporate seminar, I will make sure that everything goes smoothly from initial consultation call to the final song of the night.

When considering hiring me, we will hop on a brief phone call where you may ask me any questions you may have, ranging from song requests to my gear and beyond. After the decision is made to hire me and an agreement is signed with deposit paid, we schedule a planning call to go over the timeline and details of your event from start to finish. This call is usually most comprehensive for weddings, but is done for every event I am hired for!

With the exception of clubs who usually have an in-house sound system, I bring all my own professional quality gear from speakers to DJ deck to lighting. I always pre-check my equipment to make sure it's in great working condition and avoid any last-second surprises. Additionally, I make sure to have an awareness of dress code for any event I'm hired for and match the vibe while still infusing my wardrobe with an element of performance art.

At the end of the day, my job as a DJ is to help create the proper atmosphere for any event I'm hired for - whether it's relaxing background music or getting an audience to fill up a dance floor, I've got you covered!

As a professional musician, DJing has been a natural outgrowth of my talents and creativity! I was raised in Utah and gained valuable experience on the busy wedding and club circuits there as a drummer in original and cover bands. Additionally, I worked closely with several DJs doing hybrid DJ/band setups at both weddings and other events. This proximity has allowed me to create a solid voice and identity as a DJ in a small amount of time since coming to Los Angeles.

I was raised on a lot of pop punk, emo, classic rock and metal - but in my 20s discovered a deep love for club hip hop, EDM, house and many other genres you'd expect to hear on the dance floor. This confluence of influence from many musical genres allows me to put a unique and fresh spin on many otherwise overplayed songs, and I always keep the set interesting while making sure to play the songs the people want!
