Department of Rock and Roll Studies
Overview
The Department of Rock and Roll Studies isn’t your average tribute band. With the gusto of academic scholars, they profess their love of rock and roll with a 100+ catalog of classic cuts and cult classics. Stripping it down to its essence, they explore the genre from the psychedelic Sixties and Seventies to indie underground sounds from the 80s to the Oughts. The Profs infuse their tunes with nods to folk, jazz, and world music. They also do a bit of storytelling and myth-busting about rock stars along the way!

This band has performed three years in a row for our Arts Festival in Winston-Salem. They are the only band we have ever begged to return. Jay Dunbar is engaging as a front man and never allows awkward silences to encroach in between songs. The music is mesmerizing and can vacillate between psychedelic jam and straightforward rock like turning on a pin.
