Dennis Bauer | Leadership Keynote Speaker
Overview
When the unexpected hits, most people panic.
Pilots can’t.
In this engaging keynote, pilot and bestselling author Dennis Bauer shares the true story of flying a six-passenger airplane when the engine suddenly quit at 5,000 feet.
Through humor, storytelling, and powerful audience interaction, Dennis reveals the three actions pilots rely on when things go wrong—and shows audiences how to use them when the unexpected hits at work and in life.
The takeaways:
1. Aviate — Take control of what matters most
2. Navigate — Decide where you’re going next
3. Communicate — Get the information and help you need
It’s entertainment with a point! Or three.

Thank you, Joyce, for the wonderful review! Much appreciated!
I had a blast with you and your TOPS crowd ... a very enthusiastic and engaged audience. And thank you for helping at the book signing table. People were lining up before I could even get there!
I'm glad I was able to contribute to the overall impact of the event.
Warmly,

October 14, 2015Dennis Bauer is a Riveting Speaker
"Dennis Bauer is a 'by God spellbinder'-- but not in the way that the rascally Harold Hill was in The Music Man. He's the full-meal deal. From Bauer's first sentence, he had everyone enthralled. His 'Aviate, Navigate, Communicate' message works wonders in every realm--not just miles high over Colorado with "EMPTY" splashed across the gas gauge! I've been following Dennis's lead for a couple weeks now and business is picking up; my "gas gauge" is no longer running on empty. You will be delighted, transfixed, and transformed. Don't miss your chance to learn from one of the best speakers and life/business coaches I've ever had the pleasure to hear."

His stories and links to real-life situations engaged our audience consistently! His insights regarding how to handle unexpected situations utilizing the key phrases, AVIATE, NAVIGATE, and COMMUNICATE were easily understood and relatable. Dennis did an outstanding job speaking at our event. I heard many people talking about it afterwards and everyone was very pleased. I heard people saying "YOU are amazing" to others all throughout our event due to Dennis's session. I would like to have him back for another event when the timing is right.

What to expect
Dennis Bauer delivers a high-energy, story-driven keynote that combines humor, inspiration, and practical ideas audiences can use when the unexpected happens.
At the heart of the presentation is the true story behind Fumes and a Prayer. While flying a six-passenger airplane from Tacoma to Denver, Dennis suddenly found himself facing a serious problem over northern Colorado—one that ultimately brought him back to three words every pilot learns:
Aviate. Navigate. Communicate.
Dennis shows audiences how those same principles apply far beyond the cockpit:
Aviate — Get the essentials under control.
Focus first on the fundamentals—the things that absolutely must be working before anything else matters.
Navigate — Find a course forward.
Determine where you are, decide where you need to be, and chart the course that gets you there.
Communicate — Seek the information and counsel you need.
Ask questions, listen to wise counsel and honest feedback, and use the right information to make better decisions.
Through storytelling, natural humor, and audience interaction, Dennis takes participants on a journey through uncertainty, setbacks, risk, perseverance, and possibility.
Audiences leave entertained and inspired—but also with a simple framework they can remember when plans suddenly change and pressure rises.
Aviate. Navigate. Communicate.
When the Unexpected Happens, Don't Just Survive. Soar.
