September 22, 2024We had the privilege of hosting Deivon this summer. He came to help us inspire and train a group of canvassers or as it is known nowadays- door to door work. The age of these canvassers ranged from 15-75. These canvassers were brand new and nervous. However as Deivon shared the "why" of the work our entire team was encouraged. The fear that was seen on their face or that they had shared with me dissappeared. As he shared the entire team was engaged and actively asking questions that demonstrated deeper thinking. We could tell that the students would nod as a sign of understanding. Even after he left some of the students would repeat the lesson that Deivon had taught and connect it to their experiences at the door. His impact upon all the canvassers was long lasting. He was able to connect from the youngest to the oldest. He would use the normal things of life to present a thought. This helped the canvassers grasp a complex concept with something that they knew already. Our team enjoyed the presence of Deivon and hope to have him continue joining us!
