In all of Tom's performances, you can expect classic crooner music, witty comedy, and lots of audience laughs and enjoyment. The music is jaw-dropping, but Tom's performance doesn't just rely on singing. Instead, he brings to life Dean Martin's personality, quick wit and spontaneous interaction with the audience. That is what everyone will remember after the show is over.
During corporate performances and convention presentations, you have a message to deliver, and your ROI matters much more than just a cheap price. As your emcee, Tom's ability to quickly connect with an audience and deliver that message AUTHENTICALLY is what sets him apart.
Tom Weiland is considered by many in the business to be one of the best Dean Martin Impersonators working today. With his amusing dialogue and charismatic demeanor, Tom's on-stage performance as Dean Martin is one to be remembered. Tom brings Dean Martin's brand of humor and showmanship to every show and his relaxed style of singing, entertaining and humor captivates and leaves audiences spellbound and wanting more.
From the very first time Tom received applause and laughter, he was hooked on entertaining. For the past four years, Tom has performed as Dean Martin throughout the Midwest and southeast, including gigs in Wisconsin, Florida, North Carolina, Iowa, Minnesota, and entertainment hotspots, Chicago and Memphis. Whether performing in restaurants, bars, theaters, casinos, private functions or corporate events, Tom puts on an awe-inspiring tribute to the musical and comedic legend. In fact, Tom received a standing ovation for his performance at Dean Martin’s 100th birthday party in his home town of Steubenville, OH. Tom even received high regards from Dean’s son-in-law who proclaimed Tom looked and sounded like he could be Dean’s younger brother.
Tom has hosted Elvis contests among other shows, including the 2017 International Elvis Tribute Artist Awards. He was hand-selected by the show’s producer for Tom’s unique ability to roast the presenters and award recipients. He looks forward to bringing this experience as a co-host of the 2018 Elvis Explosion at the La Crosse Center.
Tom was nominated funniest Impersonator at the 2017 Sunburst Convention of Celebrity Impersonators, the only singing impersonator to be nominated for an award that year and beating out impersonations of Robin Williams, Don Rickles and Rodney Dangerfield.
The joy and laughter Tom brings to others fuels his passion to perform. Safe to say that Tom was born a performer. Inspired by his early Elvis and Dean records, Tom sung along to every tune until he was blue in the face and hoarse in the throat.
His first recollection of impersonating an entertainer was about age seven, popping his collar, slicking his hair back and leaning forward to sing into a broom handle as he embodied Elvis. He and his sister would sit captivated over old films on PBS and Tom would memorize Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis movies, recreating scenes for his sisters and their friends, leaving them in stitches.
Thursday nights on NBC shaped Tom’s wit and entertainment style. Tom watched The Dean Martin Show like it was his duty, copying singing and comedic styles, studying his mannerisms and how he interacted with guests. Tom didn’t just want to copy Dean Martin. He wanted to be Dean Martin.
Coined a crooner and entertainer by his high school choir teacher (who else would croon opera?!), Tom adored doing musicals (to date, 16 and counting) performing in concerts and area competitions. Tom even spent three summers traveling and performing at fairs and events with the Wisconsin State 4-H Showcase Singers, a traveling show choir composed of 4-H kids from across the state. Tom rounded out his early entertaining experience in a country and oldies band, as a radio DJ and a stand up comic.
Tom hit a wall in his 30’s and took a long hiatus from entertaining. But the void it left behind ate away at him. For him,"entertainer" isn’t a job, it’s who he is. After some good old fashioned soul searching, Tom decided to jump back into the limelight in 2014. Tom went back to his roots of radio, musical theater and stand- up comedy but something was missing…or perhaps it was someones. Tom assembled a one-man show featuring acts from Dean, Elvis, Frank Sinatra and Neil Diamond and finally felt like he was home again.
Tom stumbled into the Elvis Tribute Artists crowd and was enthralled by the possibility of making impersonation his life’s work. He began entering Elvis impersonator contests but Dean was always calling back to him. Tom would inevitably entertain the other impersonators at the after parties with his Dean Martin act. To Tom, he and Dean were one and the same, from the singing style and the humor to the way they acted on and off stage. And that’s when fate stepped in.
After a massive fail in a Memphis Elvis competition, Tom was left with nothing to do for the next four days but have fun with the other Elvis impersonators and sing karaoke. Tom got on stage and began doing Dean Martin songs and jokes, roasting the impersonators. One of the renowned Elvis impersonators laughed so hard he fell out of a chair. Two hours and two days later, they contacted Tom to perform as Dean. The rest, as they say, is history. It was natural for Tom to mix his love of crooning, acting, stand up comedy and showmanship to Impersonate the master of them all, Dean Martin.
In the midst of all this, Tom has made women swoon and Italian men cry, bringing joy to people all over the east of the Mississippi River. He has received accolades from those who knew Dean, whether it was a horn player from Dean’s band, a blackjack dealer from Sands Casino or Dean’s daughter herself. It’s an honor and privilege for Tom to bring back to life a legend.
