Benson is a double major Musician who is a Tenor Singer and Trombonist. He has many years of experience performing in various events such as live performances, concerts, and recordings. He also has experience teaching brass instruments and music theory. His high caliber of training coupled with his self-discipline has allowed him to obtain internationally recognized certificates with merit and distinction (ABRSM) as a singer and trombonist. He was most notably a singer/soloist in the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) choir and a trombonist in the MUSON Orchestra, Abuja Philharmonic Orchestra, and D.S.O Orchestra.

Benson began his music career singing as a soloist and as a chorus master. Also classically trained, his versatility allowed him to successfully master other genres of music such as jazz/contemporary, folk and indigenous African music. He performed Handel’s Messiah annually, Judah’s Maccabeus, performed in the Opera “The Pirates of Penzance” as one of the pirates in 2012. He represented Nigeria as a soloist with The Lagos City chorale (LCC) from 2012 through 2016.
In the 2012 World Choir Games held in Cincinnati Ohio, USA, he won three silver medals. In the 2013 European Choir Games held in Austria, he won a gold medal. He won three silver medals in the 2014 World Choir Games held in Latvia. He also won two gold and two silver medals in 2015 from participating in the European Choir Games held in Germany. He also participated in the 2016 World Choir Games held Sochi, Russia.

As a trombonist, he has played in the music festival in Stellenbosch, South Africa and participated as a trombonist over the years in the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival (SICMF) in Cape Town, South Africa. He has played the Handel Messiah annually , He also participated in the ‘Lagos at 50’ celebration. He has performed in many operas such as “MY FAIR LADY’ conducted by German conductor Michael Walter Volhardt; in 2018.
He currently plays for Avenue 66 & a couple of other bands in the DMV region. He plays for the Baltimore Philharmonia Orchestra & the Baltimore Gamers Orchestra.
