David J Bromley is an experienced educator in the field of photography with 10 years at the University & community college levels. He began as a traveling photographer along the east coast for national companies, now traveling only in the Richmond, Va. region.
With more than twenty years experience, you can trust this licensed professional with your valuable time - events you want documented that will not happen again - a genuine "people person" that has photographed thousands of people just like you.
Selling your home or commercial property? Hire an experienced architectural photographer to make your house or building look "just right" - David has documented dozens of historic sites.
David has done several Taping auditions for me for Films and TV Shows! Besides being a very talented actor and artist, he is an excellent photographer. David gives fantastic direction, guidance and constructive criticism to me in my acting auditions. He is a true Professional Photographer, and I would recommend him to other actors, as well as others needing other photography services!
I needed a photo to capture the street-level view showing the perspective that a witness would have had on the day in question. David immediately grasped the ideal way to portray the view accurately and with great clarity. The photos were very effective and I sensed that the jury members reviewing the photos were seeing exactly what I had intended. David was 100% responsive to my requests, always timely, and very efficient. I can recommend him without hesitation.
I directed a play at a local community theatre and hired David to take the head shots, cast photo, cast and crew photo, and some candid shots of rehearsals and our friends and family night show. We typically use volunteers for this work. This time I wanted a professional touch. I was extremely impressed with David's ability to work with people, produce outstanding results and adhere to a time schedule. He has a true gift for finding the right moments to highlight, and was a genuine pleasure to work with on my show. I highly recommend David for anything involving photography when you want superb results!
The resulting family and portrait photographs were outstanding and just what we wanted, but it was the way David managed the time we spent together and the process that impressed me. Two toddlers, Mom and Dad—yet the sessions seemed effortless and were completed with fun and flair!
I had the pleasure of working with David at a Christmas Party sponsored by the Wounded Warrior Project. I have been appearing as Santa for the past 5 years so you can imagine I have worked with my fair share of photographers. All I can say is, "Hands down David is one of the best by far!"
David was punctual, professional, easy to talk to and very understanding. He was a hit with the adults and children. I swear I don't think we had a single "screamer" picture in the bunch! He delivered the finished product well before the agreed upon due date and the pictures were fantastic!
Knowing that David was the photographer for an upcoming event would certainly be a motivation for me to appear. I look forward to working with this very talented photographer again.
We scheduled David for a photo of our Board this January. He contacted me early on to make sure he had all the relevant details for the photo shoot. The day before the shoot he went to the site and checked everything out, making sure he understood the space and had the relevant permissions. I didn't even ask him to do that - he just knew what to do, and took care of everything. When the manager of our venue was disagreeable the next day, and refused permission to allow us to take our photo on site, David immediately came up with an alternate plan, and within 30 minutes, he had us set up for our photo in a nearby location.
He took care of everything, and by the time I was home from my meeting, he had already sent the proof of our photo. The quality of the photo was excellent, and we were extremely pleased with every single aspect of our experience with David. I couldn't possible recommend someone more highly.
David is responsible, efficient, and talented.

What to Expect
experience & professionalism
My degree is a Masters of Fine Arts - photography is truly an art form!
My nature photography appeared in the "Shoot the James Photo Catalog" in 2009 as a Benefit for the James River Outdoor Coalition.
I am an experienced DSLR photographer, having learned that technical craft in the film era - both twin and single lens.
But any customer can tell you it's the photographer, not the camera!
A photographer merely needs a good camera the way a singer needs a good microphone - there is no substitute for experience.
I'm great with groups, having shot many dozens of family reunions.
Likewise, my experience with engagement and bridal photos goes back years.
But perhaps my specialty is children and infants -
a subtle skill that can only be developed with hundreds of photo shoots.
My clients have included Richmond Newspapers, Inc., Wounded Warriors Project, Harlem Globetrotters, Golf Business Magazine.
For Virginia Commonwealth University, I taught Night Photography, Photographing the City, Portrait Photography, and Action Photography in the Honors College. For John Tyler Community College, I taught Basic Photography.
My own training was at the corporate and community college level, as well as education gained on-the-job in photo retail sales, lab and portrait studio.
My architectural, nauture and fine art photos have been shown in invitational and juried exhibits:

Influences & Inspiration
I was a traveling photographer in the film era - my influences are 'old school', but I stay current with popular trends.
"Headshots" of actors and models are a style that is influencing everyday photography, and I welcome this less standardized format.
