What to expect
Our current set list is based on the original album “Home” by Dave Hewlett. The idea behind the album is to present an urgency to seek Christ in a world that is fading fast. The songwriter, Dave Hewlett, will also share insight on how some of the songs reflect how God has worked in his own life. The music itself has a mixture of blues, rock, country and pop influences. Instruments include two guitars, a bass guitar, drums, keyboard and 1-3 vocals. Target set length is about an hour.
About
Dave Hewlett is an independent Christian blues/rock artist based out of central Pennsylvania. He first fell in love with guitar after he saw the movie “School of Rock” in theaters when he was 13 years old. Early influences were Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, and especially Eddie Van Halen. Later on came Stevie Ray Vaughan and John Mayer among many other blues guys.
Unfortunately, at one point in his late teens, he decided he was going to live like a rockstar without the rockstar success. His life went on a downward spiral as he experimented with drugs and alcohol into his early twenties. Then one day when he was at the end of his rope, he felt God’s tug at his heart as if God was calling him home. He set aside the substances and decided to follow God’s lead.
That is the inspiration of the current album “Home” and the essence of the message we desire to portray through our music ministry. The world is on a downward spiral, yet we can find our place with God the Father if we follow His tug at our heart.
