May 12, 2026Devon was amazing!!
Devon was so awesome! She was very patient and graceful dealing with a big group of us that were not very talented and got distracted easily. She made the event so fun and so easy! She was able to bring wit and humor, but also a level of clarity to the dance we had learned. Highly recommend her!!

September 17, 2017Devon is a true artist!
I'm a DJ and Devon was one of the dancers at the venue I was spinning at. I could not keep my eyes off her throughout the entire night. She is an expert when it comes to body movement and her expertise is exemplified by her smile and energy. She's a must have to get any party started as she'll always bring good vibes!

About
Devon Near-Hill is a teaching and performing artist, currently serving as Co-Director/Co-Founder alongside Rachel Farley at Denver School of Social Dance. Her diverse movement repertoire spans belly dance, ballet, salsa, modern dance, capoeira, lambada, Brazilian zouk, kizomba, urban kiz, Alexander Technique, and tango. She is also currently pursuing a master’s degree in Expressive Arts Coaching and Community Building at California Institute of Integral Studies, where she is deepening her work at the intersection of movement, coaching, and relational practice.
During her pursuit of a BFA in Acting at University of Southern California, Devon discovered her passion for Lambada and Brazilian Zouk, leading her to delve deeply into their intricacies. Her dedication and skill were recognized when she received second place in the 2018 LA Zouk Festival Semipro US Brazilian Zouk Open competition, marking her as the first female lead to achieve such a feat. Devon’s expertise extends to her role as a judge for the Brazilian Zouk Dance Council, where she remains committed to continual growth and exploration. This year she also judged the first-ever Lambada competition for the Lambada Dance Council.
In addition to her performance and teaching work, Devon specializes in working with couples—particularly wedding dances—helping partners feel confident, connected, and natural on the dance floor. Whether creating simple, elegant first dances or fully choreographed routines, she meets couples where they are and guides them toward an experience that feels authentic and enjoyable.
Having worked in Sexual Assault Prevention Education, Devon has a passion for teaching embodied consent within the context of social dance. She shares her insights and techniques through her Efficient Follow Curriculum, taught both online and internationally, with a vision of cultivating adaptable, embodied, and purposeful movers.
Devon eagerly awaits the opportunity to share her passion for movement with you!
Additional booking notes
Lessons can take place at your home, a rented studio, or at my home studio—whatever feels most comfortable and accessible.
For the best experience, you’ll need:
A clear space (approximately 8x8 ft minimum, more if possible)
A smooth, safe floor (wood or similar preferred)
A way to play music (Bluetooth speaker or sound system)
If you’d like to rent a studio, I’m happy to help coordinate options. If lessons are held at your home, we’ll simply make use of whatever space you have available.
For wedding day support (optional), I can assist with spacing, timing, and a brief run-through if needed. No special lighting or staging is required—just a comfortable space where you can move freely.
