Our shows are truely one of a kind. Whether it's our small "Two Player" show, or our eight person "Full Court ComedySportz Match", you can expect high energy, rapid fire laughs, and tons of audience parcipitation. Your guests will even have a chance to volunteer to play in some of the games alongside our professional players!

We can also customize the show to your specific audience or organization. Simply provide us with some fun information about your company or guests, and our players will work some of it into the show. This always creates laughs that everyone can share, and it really personalizes the experience for everyone.

Our team building workshops take the same ideas of fun and participation, and applies them to team communication, collaberation, and leadership. And our friendly, CSz Worldwide certified instructors will playfully and professionally teach your team these skill in a very low stress, supportive enviornment.

It doesn't matter if you're young or old, introvert or extrovert, our workshops are designed for everyone. All of the games and exercises are fun and easy enough for everyone to participate. And all the while, they will be learning the importance of listening, supporting ideas, letting go of mistakes, and making each other look good. Your team will gain a new appreciation for one another, which can help to increase their productivity and long term quality of work.

Seattle Comedy Theater has been making Fremont funnier since 2012.

It started with Alex Grindeland, who grew up in the ComedySportz world — first as a high school player in Milwaukee, then as a pro on the Milwaukee team. After years on the circuit, he drove cross-country to start something new in Seattle, stopping along the way to meet ComedySportz teams and learn what made them work.

The first ComedySportz match in Seattle happened on June 29, 2012, at the Ballard Underground — against a visiting team from Portland, refereed by the same teacher who had first introduced Alex to improv, Dave Bogan. Despite an irregular schedule and a venue that was literally underground, ComedySportz Seattle grew a loyal fan base fast.

In 2014, Alex signed a lease on The Atlas Theatre in Fremont. In 2017, when the vintage mall that originally shared the building closed, he expanded into the rest of the space — growing the lobby and building out what's now The Sidecar Theater.

Covid shuttered the Atlas Theatre for a year in 2020. Alex and the Education Director of CSz Seattle, Dave Bogan, relocated to Florida to open a new comedy theater in Jacksonville. Seattle stayed afloat creating online shows, team building and community experiences.

Erika Lowe's story with ComedySportz started much earlier — and much farther away.

She first performed with ComedySportz Los Angeles in the High School League in 1992, competing at the World Championships in Milwaukee in 1995. She performed with ComedySportz Santa Barbara in college. Then, in 2016, she walked through the doors of CSz Seattle for the first time — not as a performer, but as a single mom looking for an affordable night out with her 8-year-old daughter.

She applied for a Diversity and Equity Scholarship, took the 101 class, and never looked back.

Erika completed the full class track, was cast as a Player in 2018, and began teaching and directing in 2021. She was one of six cast members who helped reopen the theater after a year of closure during COVID. She became Artistic Director in December 2024, and took ownership of the company in August 2025.

We also offer a wide variety fun and engaging corporate trainings for businesses of all shapes and sizes!

Our business trainings and team-building workshops use Applied Improvisation to improve office communication, efficiency, and add fun and laughter to your workplace. We bring the experience right to your location!

Our knowledgeable and energetic ComedySportz instructors will create a low-stress atmosphere where your group can relax and learn the skills of creative problem solving, listening, and group trust. All while your team is having fun and laughing from start to finish!

At Seattle Comedy Theater, we do funny!

We require a performance area of anywhere between 6ft x 6ft to 20ft x 15ft, depending on what sized perfomance. The area does need to have access to an electrical outlet. We do provide our own sound with two speakers, microphones with stands, and an apmplifier.

We do not provide stage lighting, but so long as we are in a well lit area, we can perform anywhere. In terms of audience seating, the closer you can have your guests to us, the better. We ask that you have them arranged to our front, so they can easily turn to face us for the best view.
