Overview

Born in the hollow Northwest darkness, Counterproductive is like a scream in an empty cathedral, anguishing life, and death, as if they bore no difference. The band formed in 2016 in Everett, Washington and quickly found their home in Seattle’s DIY scene. Angry and intense, Maniac broke ground in 2023, followed by several memorable shows at Seattle’s favorite venues (Barboza, Cafe Racer, Real Art) and a coast-to-coast crowd surf, playing in backyard and bars from Seattle to San Diego to Virginia.

About

Born in the hollow Northwest darkness, Counterproductive is like a scream in an empty cathedral, anguishing life, and death, as if they bore no difference. The band formed in 2016 in Everett, Washington and quickly found their home in Seattle’s DIY scene. Angry and intense, Maniac broke ground in 2023, followed by several memorable shows at Seattle’s favorite venues (Barboza, Cafe Racer, Real Art) and a coast-to-coast crowd surf, playing in backyard and bars from Seattle to San Diego to Connecticut.
2025 was a huge year for the band as Sperry Falls, their first full-length EP released in May. Hope Josang and Madi Maryani were added on guitars and a new, explosive yet intimate sound came forward. Combining influences from midwest emo and 2000's hardcore, the band is excited to share their new sound on new stages nationwide in 2026.
