Counterclockwise String Band brings their unique blend of traditional and contemporary bluegrass to central North Carolina and the surrounding area. The acoustic four-piece has been performing for over four years and has become an area favorite. Consisting of banjo, guitar, mandolin, and bass, their sound features tight harmonies and thoughtful musicianship. They have performed at the IBMA bluegrass festival, the Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival, and the Festival for the Eno, to name a few.
Counterclockwise String Band was the perfect addition to our daughter's wedding reception. They were talented and met all of our goals: Old-Timey Appalachian music, and acoustic background music. Our daughter had a laid-back, relaxed garden party reception and they provided the perfect musical background for her big day. I highly recommend them!
We had a farm open house and hired 2 members of the band to come out and loved their music They were great to work with and even helped out lending us their speaker and mic. We will hire them again for future events.
Set-up was easy with Robert through the Gigsalad website. They were on time and played about three hours. The music they played was wonderful and they played all the bluegrass tunes I was familiar. I had about 100 folks at the party and everyone enjoined the bands music. All comments were extremely positive many asking where I found them. Definitely would recommend this band and will look forward to having them back for the next pig pickin'!!!
Counterclockwise String Band did a wonderful job at our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. They were very communicative and responsive ahead of time and did a great job during our event. We received so many compliments from our guests about how great the music was and we would definitely book them again in a heartbeat for future events!
The band was great. They were prompt and their music was wonderful. Would definitely use them again.
I hired CCSB for my 60th birthday party. Very easy to work with. Typically responded to my emails within a day. We had them setup up outside on our patio area. They have a great sound. My friends and family commented on how much they like them. They played 2 to 3 sessions. A lot of fun. ...It was perfect. This was my first time hiring a band. Hired them based on Gig Salad reviews and Youtube videos.
Will definitely hire them again for my next party (61?).
Response from Counterclockwise String Band:
Thanks for the kind review—and, again, for having us play! That was one of the most fun birthday parties we’ve played for. Hope to do it again next year!
I thought Counterclockwise String Band sounded wonderful. My only issue was that they were still trying to set up their equipment 20 minutes after our customers got to the venue so we lost 20 minutes of being able to enjoy their music.
Response from Counterclockwise String Band:
Thanks, Wendy! We're glad we were able to play for your event. Our apologies for the unexpected technical difficulties during setup, but we are grateful we got it all figured out and were able to begin playing at our agreed-upon time of 6:30.
This band is AWESOME! They are super talented, were able to create bluegrass arrangements to special songs we selected, and were incredible to work with leading up to the event. They were super quick to respond and professional. They were also a huge hit with our guests. More people have commented on the band than any other detail of our wedding. I wish there were 10 stars to give them - highly highly recommended!!
They were awesome and such a great fit for our bluegrass concert!
They were easy to contact and put on a great show even though it was a low key audience. Only gripe is they they played with 4 members instead of the agreed upon 5. Otherwise would recommend.
Response from Counterclockwise String Band:
Thanks again for having us, Nathan! I apologize that our mandolin player got sick the day before, but Counterclockwise plays regularly as a four-piece and I'm glad we were able to put on a good show for the party despite being a man down.
We booked the Counterclockwise String Band for a cocktail party on our front porch to celebrate the start of summer. They were perfect and exceeded all expectations. We had many guests approach us to ask how we knew about the band and I believe some asked the band for their cards. The band elevated the event and we plan on booking them again next June if they are available.

We play a mix of bluegrass songs, instrumental tunes, and other songs from country, folk, and rock genres in an acoustic bluegrass arrangement.
Anything with a banjo and a fiddle!
We provide our own PA and sound unless there is a in-house PA system and sound engineer.
