Michael McLaughlin
Overview
Bass: As an experienced electric bassist, I've played many styles (Christian, rock, pop, country, 70's funk, and more...)
I am currently part of the Contemporary Christian worship team at The Bayou Church in Lafayette, LA. My goal is to provide solid bass lines for the songs. For covers, I try to match the bass as played on the recording. (I read bass clef, chord charts, or by ear).
Please give me a heads up on the material (song list, keys), style of dress, and dates needed for the quote.
Full bands, I have two available: Three AM (90's pop-rock covers) and One Last Breath (Creed Tribute experience)
Please specify as many details as possible when requesting a quote.

What to expect
Friendly easy going bass player who you can stick in the mix. I take criticism well and I don't get bent out of shape, it's your show. Just let me know what to wear and we can figure the rest out easily.
About
I started playing music with the baritone horn in 6th grade. I switched to tuba in the 7th grade, and started playing bass guitar soon after. While in school, I played in symphonic, marching, pep, and jazz bands, and did a summer music program at Concordia college in Michigan. I also played locally with a rock/pop band after school.
While serving in the Army, a few of us formed a rock band which won the FORSCOM Festival of Performing Arts in California.
Once I was honorably discharged, I came to Louisiana with some friends and played bass for a few bands, playing original alternative music and popular pop, hard rock covers of the day.
When St. Luke's Church in Baton Rouge wanted to do a mixed traditional/contemporary service I was recruited to play bass and sang part time in the choir.
Currently, I'm part of the worship team at the Bayou church in Lafayette and play with a 90's cover band named Three Am and also with One Last Breath (Creed Tribute band). To book those bands, you can use this site through this profile.
Here's my physical particulars: A healthy and active 50's, with a good build, 6' tall @200 lbs.
Additional booking notes
Depending on the gig, I have different bass setups that can be used to achieve different sounds. Just let me know what you are going for and I'll bring what's appropriate. I do have a pedal board and can get a wide variety of sounds.
I can use Wired or XVive Wireless In Ears if no amps are to be on stage. Or I can use my Fender, Markbass, or Genz-Benz amps.
4-string basses:
1993 USA Peavey Unity (Aguilar pickups, Beautiful Koa wood) - It has that P bass sound when needed
2007 Fender PJ (Aguilar pickups, Sunburst with Gold pickguard) - It has that P bass sound when needed
2020 Sire V9 Jazz (Marcus Miller pickups, Black quilted top)- Super punchy clean sound
5-string basses: 2019 StingRay 5 Ray 35 (stock HH pickups in Stealth flat Black)-Snarly and clean
As far as staging, I can be placed anywhere as needed.
Set list
I've played hundreds of songs, and each gig is different. Give me a heads up on the set list, and I will learn it or refresh it from memory.
Nothing replaces the intuitiveness of live practice and I am willing to practice on your schedule with you to help the groove.
