About
Camilo Vasquez is a professional cellist based in the DFW area, available for weddings, private events, corporate events, cocktail hours, ceremonies, receptions, proposals, and other special occasions. Known for his expressive sound, professionalism, and versatility, Camilo brings a high level of musicianship to every performance, whether the event calls for elegant classical music, romantic wedding selections, modern pop covers, jazz-influenced playing, or background music that creates the perfect atmosphere.
Camilo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Cello Performance from the University of North Texas, where he developed a strong foundation in classical performance while also expanding into jazz, improvisation, and contemporary styles. His background allows him to perform comfortably in a wide variety of settings, from traditional string ensembles and orchestras to modern event music and amplified solo cello performances.
As a performer, Camilo has built a strong résumé of both classical and professional event experience. He has worked as a contracted cellist with Serenata Strings and Dallas Asian Strings, performing regularly for weddings, private events, and elegant celebrations throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He is experienced in working with couples, planners, contractors, and other musicians to make sure each performance is polished, reliable, and tailored to the needs of the event.
Camilo’s accomplishments include winning first place in the Albuquerque Youth Symphony Concerto Competition, which gave him the opportunity to perform as a featured soloist with the orchestra. He also won first place in the Jackie McGehee Young Artists Competition, earning a cash prize and the opportunity to make his professional orchestra concerto debut with the New Mexico Philharmonic at age 18. These achievements reflect the same high-level artistry and preparation that he brings to every performance, whether on the concert stage or at a private event.
In addition to his classical background, Camilo has extensive experience performing in jazz and contemporary settings. He participated in the University of North Texas Jazz String Lab for three years, performing with jazz ensembles and developing skills in improvisation, groove, and modern string playing. He has also performed at the Denton Arts & Jazz Festival and collaborated with Grammy Award-winning drummer Bryan Carter. Most recently, Camilo recorded strings with a small orchestra for a newly released Mariah Carey track, available on major streaming platforms.
What makes Camilo a great choice for events is his ability to combine formal training with flexibility and musical taste. He understands that live music is not just about playing notes — it is about setting the mood, supporting the flow of the event, and helping create an unforgettable experience for guests. Whether performing solo cello, joining a duo/trio/quartet, or collaborating with other musicians, Camilo brings a warm, refined sound and a calm, professional presence.
From timeless wedding classics to modern favorites, Camilo works to make each performance feel personal, polished, and memorable. His goal is always to provide music that enhances the moment and gives clients confidence that their event is in experienced hands.
Additional booking notes
I can perform either acoustically or amplified depending on the event size, setting, and client preference. I have my own amplification gear and PA system, and I am able to perform with backing tracks when appropriate for the event. I can also play amplified without access to an outlet for shorter events, and I can bring extension cords if power is available and needed for longer performances.
For outdoor events, I require a shaded or covered performance area to protect the instrument and equipment from direct sunlight, heat, rain, or extreme weather. Indoor placement is preferred when possible, especially during very hot, cold, humid, or windy conditions.
I require a safe, level performance space with enough room for myself, my cello, and any sound equipment being used. For weddings and events with a planner, DJ, officiant, or coordinator, I am happy to coordinate timing, cues, and setup details in advance to ensure the music fits smoothly into the event.
For ceremonies, cocktail hours, and receptions, I recommend confirming the performance location, access to power if needed, setup time, and any special song requests ahead of the event.

Set list
I do not use one fixed preset set list for every event because each performance is tailored to the client, venue, and occasion. I have a wide range of commonly requested wedding, classical, romantic, pop, and background music selections that I can perform, and I’m happy to help choose music that fits the mood of the event.
For wedding ceremonies, I encourage clients to share any specific songs they would like for important moments such as the processional, bride’s entrance, unity ceremony, recessional, or other special parts of the ceremony. If you are unsure what to choose, I can offer recommendations based on the style you want, whether that is traditional, romantic, modern, elegant, cinematic, or Bridgerton-inspired.
For cocktail hours, dinners, receptions, private events, and background music, clients are welcome to either request specific songs or simply give me a general theme or vibe. For example, you can ask for classical and elegant, romantic wedding music, modern pop covers, jazz-inspired background music, relaxed dinner music, Bridgerton-style pop/classical crossover, or a mix of styles. From there, I can curate a set list that fits the atmosphere and flow of the event.
Common styles I can provide include:
Classical wedding music, romantic ceremony selections, modern pop covers, Bridgerton-style pop/classical crossover, elegant cocktail hour music, jazz-influenced background music, holiday music, sacred/church-appropriate selections, and soft instrumental music for dinners or private events.
Song requests should be discussed in advance so I can make sure the music is prepared appropriately. Some special requests may require arranging or preparation time depending on the song and performance setup. My goal is to make the music feel personal, polished, and well-matched to your event.
