Overview

I am a high-energy and quick-witted stand up comic. Connecting with folks through comedy is my lifelong passion. Moving between prepared material and crowd-work, I try and find the funny in the dark parts of life and the everyday humdrummery. I come on strong but I leave you feeling sweet. If you're in the market for a manic trip through a messed-up, Midwestern mind, look no further! I'm ready to bring the laughter to your party or event!

Funny, consummate professional!

Colin is a true pro in the comedy industry. Always funny and always acts with professionalism and kindness. I’d recommend booking him for anything or having him produce shows.

What to expect

Upon hiring Colin Mattox as a comedian, you will receive questions about the event, the audience and so forth. From that information, Mattox will arrive promptly, well before he's set to go on and review with you before the show begins. He'll then go into his act which will have some material tailored specifically for the given audience as well as his own test, tried and (mostly) true jokes and stories. Mattox will do his utmost to hold the audience's attention, connect with them and show them a good time with laughter abound.

About

Colin Mattox is a product of the state of Iowa, corn courses through his veins. As a chubby, young boy, Colin dreamed of being an AHTIST. Of making people laugh. So come high school, he started doing theatre, got a yen for performing and blammo—got into the stand-up comedy at the ripe age of 18. After making a name for himself in Iowa, Colin moved to Portland, Oregon to make that chubby, young boy’s dreams come true.

Colin received an English degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 2018, during which time in an effort to reach new heights of pretentiousness Colin started writing and directing his own plays. He’s now written, like, 20 or so? Colin has since hosted the short lived Popcorn Farmers Podcast and The House is Open; A Podcast for Playwrights and People Who Like Plays. He’s also been a guest on a couple podcasts whose hosts were worn down and finally let him on.

In summary and summation, this medium-sized glass of Midwestern Creekwater is ready to make you laugh.

Additional booking notes

A basic PA microphone system is required. A simple microphone and guitar amp would work just as well.
